Card Sharks will likely be the next Goodson-Todman game show to be resurrected by conglomerate Fremantle Media, now that Match Game and Password are being brought back. If Card Sharks doesn't stay true to the original format or if it uses computer technology to replace the card dealers, this show will never see another revival. What network would be willing to carry an updated Card Sharks? The most likely candidate is TBS, especially if their reformulated Match Game is any measure of success.
Jim Perry and Prince Charles are twin brothers.
How does someone get a deck of those cards? Those were the best. I didn't really have too many issues with this show. I didn't like the strobe lights they put around the car. Looks real fake.

Jim Perry was the best host for this show. In his version, there was a lady who ended up doubling each turn in the money cards. She won about 36,000+. Far as I know she was the only one to do it.

Whatever happened to Perry? Did he have some contract issue with the producer? Bob Eubanks was OK. Rafferty must have went back to radio or something. I never knew he existed until I saw the show on GSN.
Higher! Lower! Stay! I can't believe they made a game show based on Acey-Deucey. Did they not think a game based on "War" or "Go Fish" would be compelling enough?
To the other posts about Bob Eubanks always referring Lacey Pemberton and Suzannah Williams as " the two prettiest ladies in television ", the reason why I believe he always said that because they were fresh faces and a whole lot younger that the other game show gals, Barker Beauties at the time back then ( Dian, Janice, and Holly ) were much older and Vanna White was in her 30s back then and Susie and Lacey were somewhere in their 20s and that's why I beieve he always introduced them as " the two prettiest ladies in television " and he acted like they were more beautiful than any other game show model and it was quite irritating.
I feel the Perry and Eubanks versions were great, I hated the newer versions, too much was changed.
I also feel the Jim Perry version was the best of the four. Perry is a favorite of mine from his work on Definition in Canada and Sale Of The Century. His mannerisms were entertaining; especially when somebody got a duplicate card or had a King followed by an Ace and we hear the "OH NO!". Bob Eubanks was the perfect host for The Newlywed Game but he just didn't fit here. I've never seen the Bill Rafferty or Pat Bullard versions. If I'm home in the afternoon at 2 P.M. I watch the Perry version and pass on the Eubanks version. At least GSN gives you a choice. For a long time, I only saw Eubanks' version.
I believe that the original Card Sharks on NBC was the best version even though I think that Jim Perry had a very big nose. The theme song on the NBC version was the best, much better than CBS.
I grew up on Card Sharks with Jim Perry. I was happy when it came back around '87-ish with Bob Eubanks. When Bill Rafferty, the second-worst game show host ever behind Pat Finn, came aboard I totally lost interest. Rafferty never used the standard pencil-necked microphone, either. That irked me.
I used to love this show when Jim Perry was on it, and I watched it with Eubanks and Rafferty. However, I must agree with the person who wrote the other two posts about card dealers Lacey and Suzanna. I didn't care for them either. They both lacked modeling skills and always wore ugly outfits ( especially when the show premiered in 1986 ). Bob Eubanks always referred them as " the two prettiest ladies in television " and which they are not ! On my list of beautiful game show models and assistants, Lacey and Suzanna hit the very bottom of the list. Bob Barker's beauties rule any day!
The sparkly set, unique music, thrilling end game, and charismatic host made the original Card Sharks a hit. When CS went to CBS, it lost most of the above.
Although the show never jumped during it's original run, the Jim Perry era reruns were forever ruined for me when the lovely Miss Lois Hamilton committed suicide in late 1999. I just can't watch while knowing that she is gone.
The CBS version of " Card Sharks " with Bob Eubanks and Bill Rafferty. I wish back then it was vice versa, Rafferty hosted the show from 1986-1989, and lame-o Eubanks had the 1986-1987 version. And I did not like the two card dealers, Suzanna and Lacey, every time they were introduced, they would always mumble where you can't hear what they are saying or just wear outfits that were so outrageous and ugly ! And Eubanks kept saying that these two dingbats were more gorgeous than any other game show hostess there is ( PLEASE !!!! ), If I were in charge of the " Card Sharks " back then, I would replace Eubanks and the card dealers in a split second !
When Jim Perry left and Bob (whoopee) Eubanks took over. I used to watch this show when not in class and now watch on weekends on GSN. They show a Perry episode and a Eubanks show back-to-back. Perry is very good. He treats the contestants right, knows when to pick up or slow down the pace and, while he does on occasion zing the contestants, he does it in an avuncular way. Eubanks is just plain mean to the contestants and the audience, anyone who isn't Bob Eubanks. When I turned on the show and it was Eubanks, I knew the show would never be the same and was on its way to oblivion. that is jumping the shark.
This game show began to jump the shark when the two card dealers, Lacey Pemberton and Suzanna Williams, began to wear outfits on the show that were just so ugly ! These two women have no taste in fashion. And when Bob Eubanks always opens the show by saying " The two prettiest ladies in television ", he certainly acted like these two women were more gorgeous that Vanna White, or Price is Right's Barker Beauties. And they can't talk for at least five minutes, or if they do talk, they are always mumbling, you can't hear a word they are saying ! I love Bill Rafferty, he is a funny man, and I truly liked his version of "Card Sharks" better than boring ol' Eubanks, because Rafferty had the game more interesting because the contestants could win prizes during the main game as well as the Money Cards round. and his famous phrase " To the land of Parting Gifts you go " made his version of "Card Sharks" more exciting to watch.
