I would like everyone to know that my father and tim have made ammends with one another which is especially touching considering my dads declining health. So you will not read anything bad about tim from me,
I have a general message for lovers of the burnett show.the gunthy renker collection has the best quality shows.if you go to carolburnettfan sight there is a reference to two unauthorized collections not worth getting.I saw the gunthy renker has done some work on their original releases of the collection with from I understand is also added bonuses of outtakes,
Carol Burnett would always crack me up with some facial or vocal expression so i dont think the show ever jumped, it just went on too long. Dick Van Dyke could have added to the show if he hadn't been viewed as a "replacement" for Harvey Korman. Vicki Lawrences' talent developed over the years. I liked Tim Conway as a supporting player in some sketches(Mickey Hart) but found his "old man" sketches tedious. The same guest stars were used too many times. How many times did Jim Nabors, Steve Lawrence' and Ken Berry appear? One last thought... Im glad to know Im not the only one who remembered Dinah Shores rendition of 50 ways to leave your lover
I was so thrilled when this show came to TV Land a few years ago and TV Land seemed to kill it almost as quickly as they started airing it. There were several good sketches on "The Carol Burnett Show" and others you wondered why they did them. I think Korman and Conway worked well together and the break-ups were some of the funniest scenes in TV history. I never understood why Lyle Waggoner was there as he seemed to be considerably less talented than the rest. Tim Conway was the stand out talent. As for Vicki Lawrence...well, that is a woman who is less than pleasant. I know people who have worked with her (big names I won't mention) who say she is a royal you-know-what. I always assumed that as she doesn't hide her true self very much.
Actually,I can pretty much agree with Christopher's comments, re. the writer's strike, and what a great time this would be for the networks to pull out some of their classic shows for re-broadcast. Only problem with that idea is, if audiences today got a look at how good many of these shows really were, they might not be so quick to settle for the crap they're normally inundated with.
But c'mon--"Chris", if you don't like Tim Conway, that's fine--nobody here is going to drop a bomb on you for that. But for pete's sake, don't try to pass yourself off as some outraged relative of Harvey Korman's in order to make your point. That really does sound kind of silly.

Kind of a digression from the topic at hand, but Allison makes a good point. Lots of these strings have remarks and references that by rights should be considered 'inappropriate', but they're not deleted.
What makes "Chris Korman", whoever he is, so special?

What gets censored on this site seems to be pretty arbitrary as far as I can tell. If you go over to the 'Brady Bunch' string you'll see references to group s*x, inc*st and b*stiality, and posters flaming each other right and left--no one seems to care. On the other hand, a few weeks ago, I saw a post get deleted on the 'Lou Grant' string presumably because it made some mild joke about right-wingers disliking the show. I don't get what the content rules are supposed to be; there don't really seem to be any set ones, it's all at the moderator's whim I guess. (I had to put stars, because the post wouldn't transmit with the above words intact--see what I mean?!)
Apparently no one is allowed to question the veracity of "Harvey Korman's Son", since any posts that do so seem to disappear.
Maybe this site is run by "Harvey Korman's Daughter".

Iam not semi- iliterate and I didn't go to any beverly hiils high school.Everyone is entitled to their opninion but to take shots at someones reading skills is kind of tactless. This isn't english 101.I'm very sorry that my lack of grammar offended anyone it wasn't meant to.I write fast and sometimes out of being in a hurry I don't edit.I have a college degree and Associates degree in Eldercare.
if you want to talk about vicki lawrence she is one of the most underappreaciated comedians working today.she is going to be in anaheim april 28 and Iam going to take my wife to see her at the Anaheim Hilton. There are few people worthy seeing on stage Carol burnett is one and betty white and vickii is another. She is one of the dearest people in the world to me.If those on this board doubt my identity feel free to ask me anything you really want to know.who knows

I would have hoped that tv land would have taken advantage of this Strike and put on the Burnett Show and Bob newhart and Dean Martin show to let everyone in the world know that there is quality tv on its just that its from another gone by era that alot of people long for.I miss bob newhart, and the dick Van Dyke shows and Mary Tyler Moore.I don't think the whole nations wants to match people stabbing each other in the back for money and cheating on someone else or reality shows that show people eating worms.Thank god for DVDS of old shows coming on the market.
Iam not iliterate at all I write as Iam thinking and feeling what Iam feeling without really editing my grammar.I don't hate tim Iam however privy to things that alot of those on this board don't have the opportunity to know.Iam sorry if anyone took offense of those who like conway.I have personal reasons or not liking conway as much as others thata all.
That wasn't suppose to be viewed as attach on tim conway just a very personal assessment of tims bush league grandstanding thats all.If you are related to me then why would you think I would defend tims lack of proffessionalism and not praise my father.I personally think if a comedian is apart of a ensemble he should stick to the sketch as written.Tim who often went off book because he didn't have engough faith in his own writing.I wss wondering how michael bolton not the singer makes you my dads third cousin removed?Iam not calling you a lier I am curious. There is a cousin named michael that use to live in Santa Fe.Actually his name was michahel robinson I think.secondly tim and my dad aren't as close as most would think!
This was the last great sketch comedy. I believe it jumped the shark when Dick Van Dyke joined the cast. Dick Van Dyke is a fantastic actor and singer, but for some reason he didn't fit in well as part of the cast.
I had hoped Lyle Waggoner would have stayed on the show longer, but I guess he left to act on the show Wonder Woman.
As for the Korman/Conway bruhaha, I always thought Conway went off script in an effort to break people up. I suppose if I were a fellow actor working with Tim, I would really have to be comfortable in my own surroundings in an effort to just wing it if Conway were to go off script (improv). As for any anger between the two actors? I don't buy it. I am sure they are great friends, though I have no personal knowledge to verify it.
As for type casting (pigeonholed), that can happen to all actors and actresses and to all other humane beings in all occupations in life. Let us not forget, long before the Carol Burnett show, Korman voiced the Great Gazoo on the Flintstones.
