I don't watch a lot of TV, but I never miss the Closer.
The entire cast is perfect in their roles, the writing is superb, and Kyra Sedwick is wonderful.
I love her accent, her candy fetish, never get tired of her "Thank You's".
As for Saving Grace, it is just trash, so far removed from The Closer it is pathetic.
I lived in Georgia for 4 years -- I never heard an accent like that! Or anywhere else I have ever lived or traveled.
Totally agree about the accent. I live in Alabama and have never heard anything similar to what comes out of her mouth!!
Should have ended after 3 seasons. The arc is done. The Holiday 2-hours alleged special was dreadful and a geniune JTS moment from which, it appears, this show cannot recover. First epi season 4, reasonable, 2nd epi, sort of fun and interesting; however, 3 and 4 were back to dreadful, retro behavior with both that lame HS boy raper and a waste of Daniel Baldwin as his overbearing jerk father throwing his burgeoning bulk around the set, and epi 4 - well, I have had enough and will stick to watching my seasons 1-3 DVDs.
I try to watch this show every week and I find its just plain boring.I cannot stay tuned to it.
Overrated but good show. One poster suggested getting rid of Kyra. How ludicrous. She is the star wether you like her or not. If you dump her the show WOULD falter instantly and be if for some reason not be called what? "THE ENSEMBLE"? P.S. People seldom say "Thank you" in the south that much anymore ya'll.
I never seen a show with so much promise, waste it!!

1. Why did this show have to be in LA?? It would have been a whole lot interesting if they did it in Atlanta, GA.

2. The entire ensemble cast is smothered by the star Mrs. Sedgwick. I think if they got rid of her and refocused on creating an ensemble piece like "HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET" it would be a more interesting than

3. This show is on cable, yet this show seems like it could easily be on network TV. This show seems reluctant to take advantage of the freedom that cable offers.
Premise fatigue. And I agree about the accent. It's like all those fake NY accents on NYPD Blue. Except that was a good show. Closer? not even close.
Think the show is great.. but I'm clutching the side of my chair thinking they are preparing to "jump the shark" if they decide to have Brenda get pregnant. (like so many other shows). The male writers might be surprised to find out that not all women want to have kids. The medical stuff was good, including the diabetes and early menopause. This show works because she is a single, smart, strong working woman. This isn't about the "happy homemaker". We never see Jack McCoy's personal issues -kids, exwives, etc. take over the show's basic premise.
Folks, timing is everything.. when it's summertime and all the networks are into reruns, The Closer shows up with new episodes. I didn't find the "holiday" 2-hour episode unwatchable per se, but I'll admit it left something to be desired..kinda goofy, yet at least most of the cast was featured. If they cleverly utilize the rest of the cast, this show could last a good long while...
Loved Holiday episode! Love Brenda! Love her house, will miss it. It was an extra charactor in the plot. Love her cat. Love everything.

Anyone who has a problem with it --- CHANGE THE CHANNEL.
The season opener was TERRIBLE! The writers should be taken to the shed and horse-whipped. They apparently are so bereft of original story ideas that they resorted to that time worn theme "the road movie." Watching Brenda bicker with her parents for 2 hours is not entertaining--it was annoying. I stopped watching after the first hour. If this is the best they can do, this show's in trouble!
Last night's two hour special was such a disapointment, all the things that were slightly annoying magnified including the awful storyline about how badly she treats her parents. The supporting cast reduced to Keystone cops, what a waste! Turned it off before the end of the first hour and went and did laundry, it was more entertaining.
I didn't start out loving The
Closer, but now I simply can't
wait for the next episode, and/or
rerun. Such a good fit of all
characters. Hope it runs forever!

Saving Grace, on the other hand, is
just a nasty waste of space. Too
bad it's on ANY network, and even
worse, it's on the same network as
the fine The Closer.
I <3 this show so much. I don't mind her accent, actually I like it. Dont over analyze everything. He accent adds to her character, whether the accent is authentic or not. I love every single character on this show and I have hope that this show will run on the network for many more years!
