Never Jumped
It crossed over on The Simpsons
Day One
Network Switch (ABC to FOX)
Death (Doris)
Shark Bytes
One of the funniest moments I remember:
Orson Welles:
"Rosebud....Yes! Rosebud Peas! Country Goodness and Green Pea-ness."
Then he was disgusted by what he just said and left.

Rachel's right about it quitting while it was ahead. I think it could have safely gone for another season or two, though. But at least it didn't go so long that it went as bad as the Simpsons.
The Critic was great, it may have been canceled, but at least it "quit while it was ahead" this may be a bit cynical, but i think if they did continue making episodes of the critic, it would get stale; it would be destined for failure. on another note--im so tired of people comparing simpsons to family guy, family guy to the critic, the critic to the simpsons...the shows are really nothing alike, Its just that the simpsons probably paved the way for other animated shows with adult situations.
I loved the critic! Jon Lovitz is a great actor and voice actor. I'm pissed that it was given hardly a chance. At least it did not become a mockery of itself like the Simpsons is today.
Speaking of which, it's a shame that most people remember this show only from the time it made a crossover with the Simpsons, much to Matt Groening's ire. Why did he whine and throw a fit when the Simpsons crossed over with the critic, but not when the Simpsons crossed over with the X-files and other shows (including reality shows, but with different monikers)? Because the episode was turned into a "30-minute advertisement for the Critic"? Hah! Surely that X-Files crossover was also a 30-minute plug for the X-Files as well, and the crossovers with the reality shows were plugs for them as well? And why was Matt mysteriously silent when the simpsons got worse and worse and eventually became the absolute garbage it is now? He is getting too arrogant.

Is it just me or is the only evidence you need that this show never jumped is the fact that Family Guy is still around?
This show had the same sorta premise as FG, the humor was in the non-sequiturs. It's just that the Critic didn't overdo it and was several years ahead of its time.
Ah yes, and several of the jokes in this show were very intelligent, not just poo humor

The Critic jumped with the waiter/ne'er-do-well actor who appeared in seemingly every other scene of each episode. Doris and the pimple-faced kid, holdovers from The Simpsons, were not helpful to The Critic in attaining credibility as its own series.
As for single episodes, the series leaped over The Shark with the final ABC episode, in which Jay was humiliated when he became a pig character in a children's book written by his mother. This may explain why FOX ordered only ten episodes for the second season, including a clip show as the series finale (the other Shark Jumper!).

Day one. I saw episodes from both ABC and FOX, and although the ABC ones were better, they just weren't that funny. Kind of a bad show that steadily declined from its already bad quality. I like to call Family Guy "The Critic Jr." because this show was essentially the precursor to Seth MacFarlane's even worse show.
I would have to say it jumped with the flash cartoons, they had a couple of funny moments. However they were very hard to sit through after how great the original was.
Kinda like the difference between past and modern Simpsons

cool show. should have lasted longer. i didnt know that it was on anywhere but the comedy channel cause thats the only place I ever saw it.
I loved this show. My favorite character of all time is "Orson Welles". LOL! "Rosebud Peas" ROTFLMAO!!
The Critic was never given a chance to jump the shark. It was such a funny show and was even better than the Simpson's at the time. And this was when the Simpson's were at their peak in being clever and funny as well. But neither ABC or Fox ever gave it the support it should have gotten.
