This is not meant to be a "real" news show. Jon comments mostly on the absurdity of government action, policy, or reaction to certain events. And yes, he mugs for the camera, but that's part of his job. Also, he is actually VERY articulate, and if you've ever seen the clip of him on Crossfire, before that got yanked, you can see that when he isn't TRYING to be funny, he is very astute. This show has not jumped the shark.
To me, The Daily Show hasn't been the same since Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell left. I just can't warm up to the new guys. And it doesn't help that "Back in Black" is hardly ever on anymore.
I liked it a lot at first but got tired of it. All the guy does is make faces. And it repeats too often. It's kind of hard to watch a repeat of a what is essentially a news driven program. It has no shelf life.
I like the show because its funny fake news. People that hate the show are obvious Fox News watchers and can go f@*k themselves. All the news channels are sh#t. CNN sucks as hard if not worse than Fox. I enjoy funny pointless humor like Family Guy and The Daily Show fills my need to laugh at things like the war and katrina.
I'm still looking to find his obituary. He isnt funny and i would hate for him to get work anywhere, even gay porn.
Jon Stewart isn't funny. His sidekicks were in the beginning and then he got rid of all them. The writer strike proved Jon has no talent on his own. He places sound clips and makes funny faces, and that's his whole routine. the show sucks
"This show isn't funny at all. Jon Stewart is a terrible host and let's not forget that this show is on Comedy Central, not CNN. Simply awful."
Well you see "Guest", this is a "comedy" show, hence the airing on Comedy Central.
Moron.

Jumped back when Stewart replaced Kilborn. Kilborn's "persona" of cocky smugness made me want to put an axe through my screen, coupled by the "Let's all laugh at Middle America" approach of the show as a whole. I do agree a lot of the people they interviewed were nutjobs ripe for ridicule, but there were quite a few of them who seemed like harmless eccentrics which make this country great, and could of been celebrated for their individualism rather than mocked (the guy who lived at the airport, the "King" of California, etc.). Stewart is a liberal, no question about it, but he has gone afrer Democrats and Independents who stray from the fold, and is not afraid to criticize government overspending. Kilborn's show had the aura of the bully in high school who beat you up for fun, while Stewart's show makes you feel like how it'd feel to finally get back at said bully. I do think "The Colbert Report" is now the superior show, however.

It's good, and surprisingly didn't really suffer during the strike, but it could be better.
They need to focus more on news. It'd be interesting to see the percentage of viewers who tune out during the interview portion 90% of the time.
Also, I don't mind there being a lot of political news covered. I have a lot of interest in politics. Surely though, there is other news going on.
As someone else said too, the corispondants need to get back to doing more interviews and less green screen stuff. I rarely find the green screen back and forth to be that funny.

After seeing Jon Stewart in interviews and I was surprised to see how inarticulate he was. Then to my surprise I found out he has eight writers on his show....he really is a newscaster reading from a script!!! The same with his book, he's on the cover but there is another eight writers credited in the back!!! DONT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE HIM SAY ON HIS SHOW, HE IS A PHONY!!
i remember it jumping sometime before it's 5th anniversary show
a quick look when this was, and it was 6 years ago
this cow excrement is still on tv?

John always takes it to the edge. thats why we watch the show. And by edge, I mean his news and opinion "reporting". The other stuff I can do without. Wonder why the writers strike is still going? No one cares. Not the viewers thats for sure. Keep walking the picket lines boys and girls. The tank of TV viewing is still quite full and I have 300 channels and "I LOVE LUCY" reruns on Fox to get through, so take your time.
