I look forward to seeing Dick Clark every year. He is the show. I admire Dick and his lovely wife. I can't imagine the show without him. May he continue on for many years.

My buddies and I were watching Dick Clark New Years Rockin Eve and we think that NYE Rockin Eve jumped the shark when Mr. Clark had his stroke. He sounds really bad (voice/speech, etc)--no offense to Mr. Clark. But, he needs to step down and have Ryan "American Idol" Seacrest take over the New Years festivities. Mr. Clark is 79 YEARS OLD :).
If Dick Clark dies early before the New Year's Rockin' Eve, then we're gonna air a New Year's Rockin' Eve (A Tribute to Dick Clark) after Dick Clark dies.

I listen to Dick Clark's Rock, Roll and Remember every weekends until Dick Clark dies, Then Dick Clark's Rock, Roll and Remember will end for good after Dick Clark dies.

I grew up watching Dick Clark like many other posters here, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful. But, how far along do you ride with this? I mean, what if the guy was in a coma? Do we roll him out and play old audio while an attractive nurse moves his lips? After he's dead and buried, do we have an aging Ryan Seacrest out to ole Dick's tombstone?

I think the question that needs to be asked is this: If we (the network) were just rolling out a New Year's Eve Celebration that we'd be broadcasting nationwide, what type of host would we be looking for? I mean, if you were 86, just had a stroke, and spoke mumbled words out of only one side of your mouth, would you really expect to get hired.
Two words: RYAN SEACREST
Dick Clark looked great (as well as his lovely wife Kari) this year! He's gotten better with the midnight countdown, too. Like many, however, it has crushed me deep down inside that his distinctive voice is no longer what it used to be. Regardless, Dick Clark is still THE MAN and I will be looking forward to seeing him ring in 2009!
When I saw Dick Clark on TV December 31,2005, I just couldn't believe it, he sounded terrible and was trying as hard as he could to talk, I felt bad for him, even when he was at The 2006 Primetime Emmy Awards he sounded about the same, and on December 31,2006 nothing changed, and this year I hope he continues to get better, Dick Clark is The only reason I still watch (New Year's Rockin' Eve), I don't care about anything else on the show, just him, that's it.
When the performers and hosts stopped being exciting and spontaneous; in the early years there was a feeling of not knowing what might happen
Ryan Seacrest hosting the show? Jesus, we don't need him on yet another program. Who hires him to do stuff like this? Go back to "Teenybopper Idol" and get off of ABC's dial!
When Panic! At The Disco brought in the new year. Panic!. At. The. Disco.
Kids today.
I watched Dick Clark's countdown to 2007 on YouTube this year a week after the fact this year. It was sad to see him in the state he was in during the countdown to 2006. I just don't know how to celebrate the new year when Dick Clark is 3 seconds off on the countdown and I am feeling depressed when I see him in the condition he is in. Please, ABC, I know it's tradition, but there's a time to pull the plug on a show!
I grew up with Dick Clark and feel for him having had a stroke. I have had similar disabilities. It kind of ruined the countdown for me when he was out of sync with the crowd, or was the crowd out of sync? It's time for him to step down gracefully and let someone else have the chance. Besides, the celebration doesn't have any music or entertainment for anyone over 30, I guess dissing us in general. Next year I'm just going to bed at my normal time.
Dick Clark is a spectacular role model to all generations. Ryan Seacrest is just a wannabe / neverwillbe. Sadly, even Dick's remarkable courage isn't enough to repair the damage Seacrest is doing.
