I love Emeril's cooking style; it is substantial and not a bit pretentious or too trendy. He had a lot of fun heaping on extra ingredients, whatever he thought would be delicious, without measuring too carefully. He made cooking seem like a lot of fun. I liked that he was always so enthusiastic. But his band was kind of annoying, playing too much on the bongos and grinding pepper along with Emeril. That was the predictable part. Still, his guest audience always seemed to have a blast.
I liked Essence of Emeril but with Emeril Live--how many times can you say "add 40 cloves of garlic" and the audience cheers loudly? It got old real fast.
"Emeril Live" jumped when the Food Network moved it from 8 (7 Central) to 7 (6 Central), scheduling it against game-show powerhouses "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" in most markets.
Very sorry to find out Emeril is off, you know I was up in the northeast trying to find some decent seaoning and when I wanted tabisco sause, the man said nobody eats that here. We had some pork at a good restaurant and it was blah. How Rachel Ray learned to cook up there I will never know, there ignorance in cooking up there and i guess most of the people making coments here must be from there.Went to a College reunion cooking school and mentioned no seasoning. I said they must all be going to cook in old folks homes. To bad I guess they all still haven't learned that what goes down hot doesn't always come out hot.
This show never jumped...way too entertaining. It is bad that this show will not be back on the food network...The Food network has REALLY gone downhill. All that they show now is Rachel ray and that woman with white hair that is always making cakes..

With Emeril leaving.....hell, there is nothing left on the Food network to watch!!!!!Forget Iron Chef, the last time I turned that on I saw Rachel ray on there.....
News flash! Emrill's contract was not renewed, no more Emrill live after December. however hope there's re-runs. I like Emrill since he's entertaining, and keeps it G; but did ja ever notice that you can't do that at home? Unless of course, you have access to all his equipment and pantry. When I cook, I'm in a hurry to eat. Fresh from scratch is OK, but I saw a whole episode where he eventually truned out a sandwich. Yep, made the pastrami, baked bread, made the mustard and pickles. If I'm not mistaken, he made cheese and ice cvream from scratch on that show, too. Give me Mr. food anyday. A can of this, a spoon of that and Oooh, it's so good.

The audience members are pathetic!
Emeril: okay babe, lets add some garlic

Audience: YEAH!!!!!! WOOOOO!!!!

Emeril: now some salt, BAM!

Audience: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

What a bunch of LOSERS!!!! Do they hoot and holler when watching it at home?

Its a freakin food show not a football game!
I was never a big fan of Emeril. Too over the top.

He really does need to lose some weight. IMO, he looks in very bad shape as does some of the other Food Network people (cough, Paula Deen, cough). Many of them really do need to slim down.

It also seems like the Food Network is having more women with low cut tops on the air. Their does seem to be a lot more boobage on that channel. That doesn't bother me as long as they aren't annoying and they can cook.

BTW, how come there isn't anything mentioned about Rachael Ray at the JTS website? I think she is the most annoying person on tv at this point. She seems to be everywhere. Is their anything that she doesn't sell?

Are here recipes all that healthy?

Gee. What a shocker. It won't be hard to figure out who will win:"The Next Food Network All Star". I will be shocked if it is not Rory.

If she indeed is the winner, it will be intersting to see how they dress her for her show.

Last point. IMO, the Food Network has been really dumbed down and is getting worse by the day. The ratings may go up for the demographic they are looking for and I suppose that is all that matters, but the quality of the programming I believe is getting much worse. All of the redundant programming and reruns aren't helping any.
I really liked Emeril in the early days of Essence of Emril. I really felt that I was learning how to cook then. Emeril Live is just FN's way of profiting form his cult of personality. I'm glad Alton Brown pushed him out of the * o'clock time slot!
Alton Brown and Ina Garten are turly instructive in their respective programs. I've become a better home cook because of them. Giada's ok. I'm tired of looking at her chest, but she is getting heterosexual males interested in cooking. Paula's ok but I'd love to see her choesterol numbers!
I really can't stand Racheal or Bobby. I miss Sara Moulton and Ming! The Too Hot Tamales were great to learn from two. I'm crushed that FN doesn't show re-run of Two Fat Ladies. I learned from them and really love the concept of them driving around cooking for people and special occasions. Sandra Lee is obnoxious. Her food is trashy. Her tablescapes are way too stupid.

My 2 cents.
Didja ever have a friend who was a great guy when he was with just one or two people, but the minute he was in front of a crowd--- poof! "instant a-hole"?

Watch Emeril's first TV show, "Esscence of Emeril" where its just him and the camera, he's a pleasure to watch, he works fairly slowly and takes time to explain what he's doing.

Contrast this with "Emeril Live", where he becomes the "Hey, look at ME, I can boil water, and tell all sorts of snappy stories" guy.

Too bad, I think he's a pretty good "Chef Personality" but I just can't watch him in front of a crowd.
I am so glad I found this blog!!!!! I felt like I was the only one who despised EG...
HE IS A FLIPPING IDIOT!!! I am a chef & once got a thank you note from him...he mispelled the word Thai...he spelled it "Tai"...dumbass..
he could'nt cook his way out of a wet paper bag....
I wish the people in TV Land would wake up..
It jumped from day one. Look, Emeril Legasse is a likeable enough guy, and I'm sure the food he cooks is very delicious, but I wouldn't know, because he never gives any friggin' measurements or tells you how long you're supposed to cook the friggin' food!!! I mean, exactly how much cayenne pepper is in a BAM!, Emeril? Isn't that the point of watching a cooking show? To learn new recipes? Because just watching someone cook is not an inherently fun activity.
Emeril jumps the shark when he burns the food, it's raw and bloody on the inside. Emeril and the rest of the Food Network are as Fake as a three dollar bill.
Yeah, Melissa.
Emeril's the bomb alright- a STINK BOMB!:-p
