As a 12 y.o. girl, I liked this along with two other short lived scifi shows of the time: Ark II & Man From Atlantis.
My heart broke for Varian when he became widowed shortly after his wedding to that princess, or whoever she was.

Jumped after the pilot and the first or second regular episode. A very promising start, but went downhill in a hurry.
Well at the time I really didn't like it when Roddy Mc Dowall joined the cast! I wonder what it would have been like minus his character? Jared Martin and Ike Eisenmann, who were the central part of this show, will be reunited this fall at the Cult TV Weekender. "cult.tv"

Great show, let's get the DVD out. My favorite character was Varian (Jared Martin). He had a cool fork and he played the man from the future. Great guy too.

I'm not entirely certain we can apply a negative "Jumped the Shark" to this show. It only had 10 episodes. Although, perhaps, being the shortest lived Sci-Fi series in TV history who's premise and characters were actually more fun than it's modern counterpart ("Sliders"), could qualify. It, WAS, however, Fantastically Weird!
I was only 12 at the time, so everything seemed to be great until I watched it years later and ruined myself. The part I liked best is when Varian turned his tuning fork like healing device into a deadly weapon. He was a bit drained at first attempts, but then started getting the hang of blowing people up real good. Sad they pulled it. I have been trying to find the name of it for years.
The show jumped the shark right away, when it abandoned the premise set forth in the pilot--a place where humans stray in from all times and places--and changed the focus to ETs instead. This could have been a much better show if it had stuck to the original idea.
This show jumped the shark and disappeared (ironically enough into the Bermuda Triangle) after only six episodes only to be forgotten by all but a chosen few. Are we blessed or cursed with these memories? I was a big fan of Roddy McDowall at the time so I suffered through the last few episodes after he signed on as a regular cringing to the bad writing and effects. I might add that this show was IMHO the inspiration for "Sliders". Which isn't much to brag about, but it's better than nothin'.
