Shark Bytes
The show had me hooked until Georgina. What a stupid shark jumping moment. They could have done for at least another season with the buildup they already had without adding her rediculusness. Jumped in the 1st season.
The great thing about the first 14 episiodes was that it was as much about the parents as the kids. This was a big part of the appeal. Now its all boring Georgina... ooof

It a good little show. Nothing that will ever change the face of televison but certainly less irritating than The OC and One Tree Hill. The just have a tendency to showcase the wrong things. The Serena/Dan relationship was as dull as can be and the actors complete lack of chemisty did nothing to help it. From the main cast, the best actor is far and away the least spot-lighted. Ed Westwick is the only one I could see having a decent career once this show wraps but often finds himself thrown in the background - if not taken out of the show altogether! So yeah, decent at worst, great at points...it could be worse. I could be watching OTH...*shudder*
I actually love the show!! Its the best thing ever on tv atm! Although the books are different to the show itself. In the books they portait Serena as being horrible and bitchy, but on the show its more Blair! But I don't really give to toss about it. The shows still fabulous!! I love Blairs style, how she woorks the classic prep look, with Serena working the boho. Its fabulous! The show is just pure gawgus, and Chuck is soo fiine. Although im getting abit annoyed with Nate, he just wines all the time.
I go to a private school in the uk, and id say 20% of the girls are from celebrities parents, 30% are wealthy, and the rest are middle classed, except from a couple that got a scholarships , but people think we all bitch about one another and carry designer handbags, well we dont , were more focused on school work than the latest designers. Yeeh were all preppy but we don't dress like Blair or Serena, and we certainly don't have sex and do drugs all the time!! So when people say that were just like them, I feel for them! Cause its made up but yet we still look in distgust about the programme.
I love it , and that's all that matters.

I think one of the reasons why people think GG hasn't jumped the shark yet is because it portrays many materialistic American fantasies. Sure, it isn't dull, but it is predictable--they all end up having sex with each other. Besides, people don't make so many hasty decisions. That's so inhuman.
It's like an alternate reality, a Cruel Intentions fan fiction that destroys Sebastian's reputation. GG is just gay (like me). They're a bunch of rich white kids who can't decide on anything but subconsciously destroy their social life. Their imperfections are still perfect and they're the ones creating their own conflict. The show hasn't considered many external conditions.
It's so profoundly disturbing.

NOOOOOOOO!! okay, from time to time GG can be a tad cheesy and soapy but I always found the story lines fun to watch......until the introduced this whole Serena "i killed someone" thing. It is so absurd, cliched, and so god-awfully boring. They could have went in a way more interesting direction with the Georgina blackmail thing. A orgy...a rape...an overdose...good god, anything would've been better
Not enough Chuck and Blair! They got together in the limo, and most of their relationship after that wasn't even shown! There was one kiss on the bed, and then Blair dumps Chuck to get back with Nate. And since GG has returned after the break there hasn't been any scenes for them at all
So much time is spend on the dreary Selena/Dan romance, yet Chuck/Blair is the storyline that most people are talking about, so why won't the show follow through? Chuck barely even has his own storyline any more, other than supporting Selena. All the focus and hype lately seems to be on Seleana and Georgina's past
It's not that Selena doesn't hold some interest, the actress is so talented that she brings a lot more to the part than the writers actually, but I don't think that Selena works as lead. GG is meant to be trashy and scandalous, and Chuck and Blair are perfect characters for this show, and deserve so much more attention. Selena isn't even rich and bitchy, she's just this really nice sweetheart! Which is great for real life and all, but on GG it's the more complex character of Blair that really makes this show work, and I feel that there should be a shift of emphasis to reflect that. In comparison to all the untapped potential of Chuck/Blair, Selena/Dan is just going nowhere and all these misunderstandings to try and create false tension are just lame. A permenant return to bad girl Selena holds more promise at this point!

RE:characters have been miscast, especially serena! she is supposed to be extraordinarily beautiful, but the actress playing her is as average as they come.)WHO WROTE THAT CRAP! BLAKE LIVELY IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD GET GLASSES
I think the show is better than ever. There isn't an episode that is predictable or dull. I'm always dying the see the next episode. It may be completely unrealistic, but everyone is still dying to be in their [very expensive] shoes.
This is worse than the books. The characters are horribly unrealistic- they're beautiful, rich, smart, and can get anyone of the opposite gender down on their hands and knees and kissing their fancy, expensive shoes. I had the misfortune of having to watch it with a cousin who's apparently obsessed with the series.
The characters are clones of each other. They're all rich white kids with problems. The books, while not as unbearable as something like Twilight, can be personified as some girly little nobody who dresses like a Paris Hilton BFF and thinks she's mature and classy.
The acting is very, very bad. All these pretty little faces can pull off are some plastic, commercial smiles or annoying smirks. Besides that, they mostly look dead behind the eyes. And no, the icy, blank glare isn't an "emotion".
It's also a classic victim of this boomerang effect. A popular book, albeit a shallow, unrealistic, poorly written one, draws certain age groups into reading and such. And of course, those TV producers we all know and love decide to make a freaking TV SERIES out of Gossip Girl and pull those helpless squealing tweens/teens back to the screen.

I absolutely love this show. You guys say it is a rip off of the OC, but the dude who made the OC also made gossip girl. I think the cast is amazing, but they do stray pretty far off from the original books. I'd be a little pised if I were Cicily von Ziegesar, because they basically went with the basic plot and twisted and turned it all around. Fore example, Jenny is the complete opposite as she is in the books. She never has a thing with Nate, her boobs arent double D's, her hair isnt brown and curly, and she isnt friends with Elise on the show. But hey, the show is still amazing and I cant wait till April when it comes back on.

I absolutely loved the books but the show just started in the UK and i find myself disappointed to have read there will be a 'serial rapist'? :/:/
Can someone tell me if they use the character Venessa (the chick with the shaved head) at all? I'm too impatient to see if it gets any better!

I like the show and think the books are OK, but I love how some people are arguing that this show contains great acting and original plot lines. I think all of the young stars have potential and I think the writers add their own twists to the stories, but this is a night time soap, plain and simple, so the acting is purposely a little overwrought. And the stories are the same old recycled ones, but they're looked at in a fresh way from time to time, which makes them interesting. (to me, at least) And in a way, it is kind of a rip off of the OC. Even though the Gossip Girl books came before the OC, the series strays from the books and it's not so much the story lines that are ripped off from the OC, but the whole style of the show! Whatever, I still like it. (Oh, and though I don't agree with your assessment of the show, good call on the pregnancy scare, guest!)
