Never missed a episode Barbara Eden is Great in the show. She played Stella and in one episode played Stella s cousin Della ( a Jeannie Sister like character).Anne Francine was funny in the role of Flora Simpson Reilly and why she did not win an Emmy Award for the role is a mystery. They do not make shows like this now.It is one of the Best shows of all There are plans on making a stage musical play based on the song, movie and show starring Barbara Eden and Barbara Eden may reprise the role.
I produced this turkey in its first year. Does anybody out there have ANY of the episodes on video??
who could forget fanny flag!! i never liked this show i did however love the song and the t.v. movie was not bad either ,,, but the begining credits stunk too... dead show...
I cannot tell everyone how "happy" I am that someone else "finely" posted a message on this site! As you can see, my message was the last one up there for "months"! I am glad to see that someone else still remembers this show. I wonder if it will ever come out on DVD. Before posting this message, I went through alphabetically all of the shows that I have ever posted on to see if there was anything new. As it turned out, there was also a new message on the page dedicated to "What's Happening!!" This is another page that gets "very" few postings! After posting this message, I will go over to that page and respond to that post as well.
I recall one of best parts of show was the nosy neighbor(who I think was also in the movie show was based on..how come that is never rerun?? esp on CMT?) same woman i think played similar part on Valerie's family
The character of Stella Johnson was one of the "many" TV women that I had a crush on in my teenage years! I "really" liked her "beautiful" blond hair and those "lovely" mini skirts that she wore. If I had to pick one thing about her that was most appealing, I would have to say those petient leather purses that she carried! By the way, I thought that Stlla's friend Casey was a very close runner-up in terms of attractiveness. I noticed several people who have knocked the character of Stella's Uncle Buster. I did not think that he was that bad. He had a nice enough personality and some of the things that he got into were a little funny. I felt "sad" when NBC took this show off of the air!
It was a clean, sometimes funny show. Not the greatest, but not a bad way to spend 30 minutes of TV. Better than any of the crap they have on now!!!
Hmm. I'd say it jumped the shark after the pilot.

The pilot had Barbara Eden in a tight turtleneck, short shorts and a dunk tank.

Yes she got dunked.

No they never did that again.

Bait and switch, I'll say!
I'm one of the few people I know who actually liked this show. It was funny in it's original format with her battling the PTA. Then they dropped the PTA, and it was still funny, but had a bit of "what's the point?" here. Then they revamped the show, again, then I stopped watching. It ended after that and not too soon.
This show jumped when they introduced the useless character of "Uncle Buster", the wacky inventor. As if this show had to use some more gags like this, it sure didn't help.
JTS when they made a TV show based on a corny song. Barbara Eden then = HOT, the show was NOT however.
Yes, the premise of this show was laughable. But let's face it, Barbara Eden cannot carry a bag of groceries by herself, let alone a television series. In the absence of Dandy Duncan, Eden's traditional antagonist (cf. Circus of the Stars, The Hogan Family, The Sandy Duncan Show, etc.), not even a "special" guest appearance by dancing sensation Ron "Mister to you, buddy" Montez could save the day.
This show was always jumping, but it really jumped when Stella dressed up in I Dream of Jeannie's outfit!
Come 'on - any show that would bring back George Goebel can't be all bad!
Harper Valley PTA was chum from the start. Who was the evil "genius" that decided to base a TV show on a country song?
