Who cares about one more highlight show, its been years since I saw anything unique on that show.
Here's the REAL DEAL ...
I really think that somebody has to find a way to get Mercury Morris on television EVERY WEEK during the NFL season. His 2007 comments on the Patriots and the undefeated "issue" were priceless this year, and made the otherwise boring NFL season and coverage a bit more interesting without being too "New School" or "ghettoized". He "ran head" like an educated street scholar, putting full-time blowhard Prof. Cornel West to shame, and regularly taunted and challenged the Patriots sycophants each and every week with the bravado of someone who had the absolute knowledge that the Pats could not and would not get to 19-0 !!!
A THING OF BEAUTY !!!
Don't get me wrong, I get irritated by the 1972 Dolphins and their champagne to this day watch the highlights hoping the Redskins could find a way to win that Super Bowl.
But in an NFL land of T.O., Ricky Williams' pot habit, and the wall-to-wall coverage of the Indy Combine, we could all use an hour of Mercury Morris every week articulately taunting the sycophant rabble and SHAKIN THE THING UP !!!

anywhere to get old highlight clips or buy DVDs of old seasons? I used to watch this show years ago when it was mainly highlights and I miss those episodes and would like to re-watch them, but can't seem to find clips to download or episodes to buy anywhere.
Hey Corey... you need some grammar and spelling lessons. Maybe you should ask Collinsworth to tudor you. Cris is the best thing going on Inside the NFL and the Sunday night show on NBC. Don't hate a man for knowing how to form an opinion. There is no such thing as a sports analyst who is right all the time. Cris probably doesn't know much more than half the fans out there, but those fans don't know how to articulate themselves in front of a camera while discussing sports. Before you slam the man, try doing Collinsworth's job, and see how you do. Also, your comments about the Dolphins make no sense. No other team has ever finished or started a season 14-0. The closest anyone came was the '85 Bears, who lost their 13th game. Teams have gone 14-2 and 15-1, but lost prior to their fourteenth game. I don't really like the Dolphins, but I'm not going to be dumb about them.
Collinsworth held most bengal recieving records for the bengals. when he played has was one of the fastest guys in the nfl . he was often compoared to a gazell. as a STEELER fan i hate his guts. his problem is not he lack of knowledege. he moer often than not won the host pick trophy. But the way he does it. he has that whole I'm smart and you dumd tone about himself that makes him so hateable..
the 72 dolphins are nothing special. lots of teams go 12-0 they only had to go 14-0 in thatseason. a feat many teams since have duplicated. they'll all be dead soon anyway. Steelers over the Rams in the super bowl. yeah i said the rams. the nfc is a wreck.

The show has been going downhill since Len & Nick left the show. The beauty of the old show was that they used to show highlights from EVERY game, with minimal talking. Now it seems like all the hosts do is talk. The "Tee Off" portion of the show with Collinsworth as moderator & Marino & Carter answering questions is mind numbing. I thought when Costas was added the show would get better. I was wrong. The hosts need to shut up & just play highlights. Since NFL Primetime on ESPN was moved to Monday afternoon, I was looking forward to ITNFL .... that feeling faded quickly. The show has been on 30 years, it shouldn't be allowed to continue if it stays the way it is now.
I agree that Wanda Sykes was awful and thankfully is no longer on the show. Overall, I enjoy "Inside The NFL" alot, and that's mostly thanks to Bob Costas, who is probably the most intelligent and funny sports broadcaster around. My only "problem" with Costas is that his first and true love is baseball and I always get the feeling that he is "slumming" a bit by doing a football show! I think the negative attitude towards Collinsworth from the posters is due to two things: he didn't have all that great a career in the NFL (I think he played for the Bengals); and because he looks and sounds so unathletic (he resembles a geeky college-age nerd who wouldn't know what a football even looks like). But I think Collinsworth's analysts is usually right-on. Cris Carter is definitely the "token black", but at least he is not obnoxious like Deion Sanders or Shannon Sharpe.
I completely and wholeheartedly agree with the above poster. Cris Collinsworth is an arrogant little dweeb whose comments lack any semblance of either insight or intelligence. This dumbass shouldn't be calling a game of hopscotch, let alone offering analysis or comment on NFL games. I'm also not too crazy about Jimmy "Helmethead" Johnson, the most morally bankrupt person ever to coach a football team.
As soon as Chris Collinsworth showed up, it was unwatchable. The highlights are great, but Chris Collinsworth killed this show for me.
Sykes Sucks! The horse's ass at HBO who said hiring her would be a great addition to "Inside the NFL" should be fired. Her segments are painfully unfunny. She obviously doesn't know squat about sports so there's no reason why she should be on "Inside the NFL." I still watch "Inside the NFL" because I like the show very much. The quality of the show has deteriorated over the years that's for sure, but I have faith it will jump back. I hope so. The first step towards "Inside the NFL" jumping back is when HBO comes to its senses and fires that stupid whore Wanda Sykes. Fox did when they cancelled her piece of crap show "Wanda at Large," so hopefully HBO will too.
When they stopped showing highlights from all the games. Hello? You Play To Win The Game! And we watch this show to see all of the games, not the witty banter of Chris, Cris, Dan and Bob.
WOW, who's running Sports over there at HBO?? Dumping Len Dawson was the first mistake, but sadly that is only the beginning of the downfall of a once-great sports show. Costas is a knowledgeable, solid announcer, but is miscast in this show. He's like the school valedictorian, the guy who you somewhat admire, but would love to slap silly on occasion to knock him off his high horse. Marino and Carter are useless, I wonder if they've got someone on the crew to come wipe the drool off their chins before the camera cuts back to them. Collinsworth is OK, but seems to think his opinions are the bottom line, and everyone else's opinions are off the mark. As for Wanda Sykes and George Lopez - my GOD, what drugs were the producers on when they came up with this casting gem? Obviously, some kiss-ass, PC corporate weasel thought the show was too "white" and needed some minority cast members, that's the only reason I can think of for this affront to football fans. And they stopped showing highlights from ALL of the previous weeks' games, which is what most of us watch the show for, NOT the endless, witless banter we are subjected to more and more each week.
Wanda Sykes is awful. But no mention of the other useless "celebrity." George Lopez. He might be more thrilled to be there, but adds absolutely nothing to the show with his crappy segments. Why can't there be an intelligent show about football? Who decided to add Wanda and George? Did they want to outstupid Terry Bradshaw and Michael Irvin?
A long-time lurker, I've never before been moved to write, but I need to get this off my chest: Bring back Len and Nick, and get rid of everyone else!!! I like and admire Costas, but the rest are disposable members of the jockocracy. And why is it that these sports shows insist on hiring the worst role models among ex-players and coaches, either egomaniacal buffoons (Deion Sanders), mumbling, drug-addled criminals (Michael Irvin) or glib, condescending jerks (Bobby Valentine, Jimmy Johnson). Let's see less of these idiots and more knowledgeable, admirable retirees (Joe Morgan, Bob Griese, etc.)
I used to watch Inside the NFL every weekend with Len and Nick. Some reasons why i don't watch anymore have already been listed--Len and Nick are gone, not every game is recapped, no more 'Where Are They Now?' segments. But the biggest reason I don't watch is Wanda. I can't stand her. She's annoying as hell. That voice turns my stomach. HBO, it's just not working. If you want viewers back, get rid of her. And please, for the love of God, get her off 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' too.
Bob Costas is great, as always, but gets too defensive when reminded he never played football; Cris Carter is a work in progress; Collinsworth is very good; Dan Marino knows the game but is a blockhead; Glanville knows the game, but he's too much of an annoying redneck (I lost all respect for him back when he was coaching the Falcons and allowed MC Hammer on the sidelines but not his own son); and Nick Buonuconti (sp.?) is widely despised among today's players for his undefeated Dolphin teams' classless champagne toast when the last unbeaten team loses each year, and has little to offer the show. If all this didn't make the show barely watchable as it is, they had to add Wanda Sykes. Her completely unfunny schtick and her nasal, aloof delivery have no place on this show, and the hosts are visibly uncomfortable after her bits. Last Thanksgiving, she did a moronic piece about shooting Indians, and while the hosts fidgeted uncomfortably, it appeared that a clearly disgusted Dan Marino muttered something that was either muted or cut out. Football can stand on its own; its been long since proven that trying to introduce it to new demographics doesn't work.
