So This show is gone?? I thought the Tv guide said it was a hit. Even though it had many flaws it was fun to watch. I was hoping it would come back on.
Didn't have a chance to jump. I enjoyed every episode that aired because it was just soooo fun to watch. Jake is the hottest nerd ever. Lee Majors even showed up and kicked ass! I will miss you Jake and nanite-infested body.
With the most recent episode of Jake 2.0 they started building the ramp in preparation for jumping the show next week. This week's episode was about saving the life of an african king's son. How did they start building the ramp? They subtly introduced canadian actors in the background without any fanfare or mention of them as new major actors....kinda an X-Files shady people in the background leading things from behind kinda deal. The main new canadian actor to help build the ramp in preparation for next weeks rocket powered Tricycle jump? Jim Byrnes the canadian amputee actor known for his work in the tv series "Highlander", "Wiseguy", and many other shows...http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-7681 Now how is the show going to jump the shark with it's rocket powered tricycle? Next week's episode features Lee Majors as the Six million dollar man. Nuff said.
At least this show had Jake having the nerve to tell the girl he liked about his super-powers--unlike Clark on Smallville. And since he did it while they were outside, he couldn't demonstrate his powers to her without everyone watching. Yeah, he could have tried to show off his super-vision and hearing, but she would have thought that it was a techno-scheme on his part. While some parts of this show is out and out unbelievable, at least the characterizations are much better developed than those of Smallville, Charmed, Angel, and other super-hero shows of today.
Okay, this show is a bit cheesy and the sublime, lamented Now and Again dealt with its theme better, but Jake 2.0's eponymous lead, the earnest, forthright geek cum demi-god, played to nerdy perfection by the adorable Christopher Gorham, more than overcomes any shortcomings.
The inquisition and constant implications that "our government would never do that" killed this guilty pleasure for me. Sure it was bad, but enjoyable bad. Now it's just done.
While I generally like this updated version of the Six-Million-Dollar Man with computer override telepathic powers, I was surprised that the old TV/movie cliche of starting a fire in one place will set of the fire sprinklers in the entire building. When Jake was put in his detention cell of the NSA headquarters, he escaped by using a lighter to set off the sprinklers. Since he doesn't smoke, why would he have a lighter in the first place? Also, wouldn't they have searched him for things like that in the first place? And finally I learned from the DC Boards from a fireman's son that fire sprinklers only pour water on the area that's on fire, not the entire building. Other than that, I generally like this show, despite a few other flaws. The techno nerd bandits was scary in how people can reprogram a plane to crash on demand. I felt that they put on too much info on how this could have been done. While I'm sure that they left a lot of stuff out, some nutty genius can always connect the dots and make this scenario happen in real life.
