Jamie sang too much. You could just tell he was trying to promote his singing. It wasn't THAT great.
i agree with the above witers it jumped when jamie left the hotel and new boring characters came in. also when they changed the opening credits.
Someone mentioned Jamie Foxx being ashamed of this show. When did he say that?? I see why he was ashamed of this show, there was too much BUFFOONERY with his character, Braxton(AHHH, BRO-HAM), and the people they brought in for Jingles 2000. This show jumped when he started working for Jingles 2000. Jamie Foxx has gone on to do more respectable work, but he can't run from this show since it comes on BET all the time.
I hope you guys aren't forgetting that it IS called The Jamie Foxx Show, which means the show is about Jamie's progression from being a relative in the family hotel, to making his own moves. it was not called The Kings Tower, but all in all, the show did jump when Jamie moved on. That's obvious.
Jingles 2000....come on now!!!!!!!!
This is a funny , funny show. The best episodes were when the white woman from "In Living Color", who is hilarious in everything I've seen her in, guest starred as a con woman who faked injuries and sued the hotel. Another good one was when Gary Coleman guest starred. I agree with most posters that the earlier episodes set in the hotel were much better that the later ones. I admire Jamie Foxx for going on to bigger and better things , but he should never be ashamed of this show.
it JTS when Jamie started working at Jingles 2000! the addition of Mouse, the other guy and the incredibly unfunny Chris Spencer (remember when he use to host Vibe and ruined it!?) and the girl who now sings with En Vogue, you could tell they were desperately trying to bring new life to the show. not to mention trying to pair up Braxton with the chinese girl, what happened to the APS woman? they shouldnt have shifted focus from off of the hotel, that was the centre of the show and it could have lasted longer if they left it alone!
When Jaime's Ego got so big that there was no room for the rest of the original cast is when it jumped the shark. Originally it started as a show about a struggling guy working in his aunt and uncles hotel, trying to get one of the workers and going at it with another worker- great chemistry. Then Jaimes ego exploded- the family and Braxton suddenly disappeared out, he got Fancy and the focus of the show changed to him and his friends from his new job. The fact that the title screen changed to an animated one to a r and B one which ends with a full screen portrait of Jaime was an early indicator of it.
When Jamie and Fancy got together the show completely lost it. That's right about the time Jamie stopped using self depricating humor and tried to act like he was a big shot (getting Fancy, moving to the penthouse, getting a managerial position at Jingles 2000 etc.) so the show became more of a showcase (Jamie sings and plays the piano regularly after this point in the show) than a comedy.
The Jamie Foxx Show JTS when they changed the opening theme in 1999 from the funky animated sequence to the more relaxing "Simple Things All I Need". I like both versions of the themes from this show.
Jamie Foxx Jumped when it phased out Braxton, Aunt Helen and Uncle Junior. The Kings Tower was a great place for Foxx's comedy style. He could crack jokes on the guest and on the other workers. When he did that jingle stuff it killed the show. Also he quit living and working in the hotel that did it for me. It was funnier when Jamie was struggling. When he started staying at Fancy's every show was boring. I feel his style was similar to the show Martin. He made the same kind of one liners Martin Lawrence threw out to Pam. I guess his writers and The Steve Harvey writers couldn't think of any more material to borrow.
Braxton and Jamie Dance fighting a la Mike Jackson, classic
This show clearly JUMPED when Jamie got the job as a jingle writer. All of the back up comedians from the existing co-stars were basically written out of the show....Uncle Junior(Garrett Morris), Fancy (Garceille Beauvais), and Braxton. Funny how Mouse also worked at the jingle agency, and they kept him in the show. It was too bad, as this show was one of the funniest on TV when it centered around the hotel. I guess they felt played out after Jamie finally won Fancy over....no more comedic moments to run around.
The show never jumped, it had one of the greatest comedians of our time (Jamie Foxx) and the beautiful Fancy but if it did, it could be when Jamie got the job at jingles 2000 and it was no longer Braxton and Jamie dissing each other it seem quickly that braxton had nothing really going for himself. It has never jumped before
