Never Jumped
It became a soap opera
Day One
The Barbecue
Town square decorated for Halloween
Shark Bytes
The show jumped the shark midway through the first season. It got off course and focused too much on the "soap opera" aspects. I feel like they were trying to copy "Lost", only the writers weren't as good so they had difficulty keeping the overarching storyline together. Oh, and Skeet Ulrich is a terrible actor.
Never, ever jumped the shark. It didn't have enough time! I like what Cynlady said, and I agree with her. Bricks aren't a good way to promote a show!
I feel that Jericho did not get a fair chance from CBS. They can say all they want but the put this show in it's worst time slot for it's 2nd season and a very poor lead(big brother crap!). The people who I brought to the show said they watched live but because of their work schedules it made it very hard to stay up. Also the families that I know watched live when it was on at 8 on Wednesday tivo or dvr'd the show to watch as a family and they were never counted. I am what the networks claim they want me as a viewer. I am 31. I am not the ordinary viewer. What they consider entertainment is nothing but over done exotic game shows they call reality tv, cloned police, medical, and comedy shows. If you seen one you have seen them all. I am a not a robot, what I need is something is intelligent and fresh and that is what Jericho is to me. Also do not like the fact that all of the networks want viewers but they seem to not be able to make a commitment to quality. I have always been an independent viewer and unlike most of you I do not look to the networks for my entertainment. I have learned one lesson I will not be back to CBS. I will go where I am appreciated. Also I will continue to fight for a new home that will appreciate this quality program and us it's loyal viewers!!
Jericho Jumped the Shark when they thought they could fool the shows conservative base by thinking they wouldnt notice Season 2 was basically turning Kansas into Iraq and making US troops into traitorous goons. Hollyweird is 90% liberal so I guess we shouldnt be suprised they did this to what was a terrific show in Season 1. For me the series ended during the fade to black at the end of Season 1. Millions of others felt the same way and ratings tanked.
Jericho was never given a chance to jump the shark! How will the Next Civil War play out? What's going on in Columbus, and what ever happened to New York?
I liked the show, good acting, well written and enough twists to keep me interested. But a show with this premise almost inherently has a limited life. Cataclysmic event, survival, recovery, progress, and in this case (to it's credit) a slow unfolding mystery around the event. Once things get better and riddles are solved it's somewhat analogous to the sexual tension between 2 characters being broken. But I think there was still at least a couple more full seasons of fodder here, and one of the few hour long dramas I watch(ed) these days. Sorry to see it go, the quick ending seems to soon and makes me feel cut off. Bet there will be a made for TV movie at some point.
Jericho took a little while to find its footing, but never jumped, in part because the series changed throughout its run -- first after-the-bomb isolation, then the nitty-gritty of survival (and a serious conflict with a neighboring town), and finally a political/suspense thriller. Plus, any show with the gorgeous and talented Sprague Grayden is definitely worth watching!
Never Jumped! The network killed it and had no intention of bringing it back permanent(my wife thinks the government didn't like the way the story line was going and the one evil guy with the cane looked like Dick Cheney). It sure looks like they were never planning to continue past these last 7 episodes. Networks never seem to want to let a show gather a following anymore. If it's not an instant hit they don't keep it.
Puh-lease. For those of you NOT paying attention, the party who was responsible for the nukings was some megalomaniacal uber-rich type who was disgusted by the special interests running the country. That could easily translate into a left leaning Ted Turner, Bloomberg, Soros, etc... type as easily as a right winger. As for government killing its own people, have you heard of Tuskegee? Different as far as numbers go, obviously, but not in mindset....
It was a solid show. It did become soap-operatic, but the whole concept was excellent. Sci-Fi could pick this up, lean it a bit and talk more about the new government, the effects on the country as a whole, not just Jericho and keep the original cast. You can have a Galatica here.
And Ashley Scott will get bigger parts. She is too hot not to.
When Jericho is the water, the shark stays hungry.
