This show was supposed to end with John Doe being discovered as a survivor of an airplane explosion. The mark on his chest was the emblem of the airline, and his knowledge of everything was due to a clinical death experience.
This was for me anyway, the beginning of serialized shows on Fox that never reached a conclusion. More recent shows such as Reunion, Vanished and Drive have sadly continued this trend. I refuse to invest my time in anymore Fox serialized dramas that are not going to have a payoff due to premature cancellation.

The powers that be at Fox need to realize and understand that a viewer such as myself is not willing to invest anymore time in a show if we are not going to be guaranteed to see a logical end to the show.

IMO, this is a trend in programming that is causing people to avoid these shows entirely. I know I am.
I origianlly was going to insist that this show JTS when the only person to stick by this weird character for all the time tehy know each other truns out to be the chief villian of the piece. It was such a bloody copout.

Now . . . Reading some comments, I rather wonder if that was not a great idea in itself, and would have had our lead hero scratching his head for a few episodes of the new season as to reason out why the elaborate deception.

But we DO need closure on this. Come on, they made TV movies of "The Pretender" . . .
This is the only show besides Dominic Purcell's new show that makes you want more. And yet what were the network or whomever they call themselves thinking?

umm consideration for the viewers?
I didnt think so
I dont understand why they dont make more access to buying it on DVD!
It's difficult to locate..throw us a figgin bone fox network peeps!
Actually, Digger was not the bad guy - was a Phoenix operative with reconstructive surgery - according to the producers, anyway.

Of course, since Fox cancelled the show, we'll never know.
Ok, just saw the last episode of the season. Either no one watches this show or no one thinks it jumped yet. It hasn't jumped, yet, for me. But, tonight's episode leaves the water swirling in a funny way. (is there a shark there?) So, Digger, the guy who shook with John Doe and declared a brotherhood is the same guy that had Theresa hostage. (glad to see that she is free, now who is she?) Are we about to jump or is it just going to get better? This has been a great show all season. The exciting thing about this show is that it often looks like it is going to jump, but writers pull it off every time. And, each week, you never know what the next adventure will be. Will he solve another crime? Will there be another psycho killer that is his "fan?" Will he screw around with Phoenix? Will he meet another woman who likes smart men? This show may jump, as I have been saying, the first show of next season, when we get some kind of explanation of why we saw Digger revealed as the bad guy. But, if it really is him, they will probably show us all the clues they have dropped this season, and we will all give ourselves dope slaps. No, this show will probably jump when Theresa reveals to John that he is actually Tommy of Pinball Wizard fame. Ok, I know that there are a few faults, inaccuracies, stretches, and things that looked like faults until I thought about them. But, as you may have noticed, I am writing a bit scatterbrainedly, tonight. So, I'll let you guys do it.
John Doe was really great in the beginning, but I did not like the episode where he got struck by lightning and lost power then got it back in the end. That episode is when it jumped the shark, but you still left viewers in suspense. I need closure!!!!!! Dominic is a great actor and was good as Doe. What the HELL else is there to watch on Friday night?
John Doe had it's weak moments but overall it was pretty darn good. It shouldn't have been cancelled for the final episode left you wanting more & there were a lot of unanswered questions.
When Karen dies at the hand of the Phoenix wackos and Doe learns he's the Phoenix.
First, Karen doesn't appear in an episode for a month, than she comes back and they kill her off? What the Hell was the point of bringing her back in the first place?
A pretty good show, but Digger's betrayal at the end was too gimmicky. I heard it coming a mile away, but thought "No, these writers are too good to try something dumb like that". Guess not. It just didn't make sense plot-wise.
This show was very enjoyable to watch, and it JTS when they had that "digger" guy be the one who was the bad guy, when throughout the show he was supposedly his friend. Like Fox makes this weird plot twist cliffhanger...John sees Digger is the bad guy, and then that is it! Stupid Fox network, they at least could've had one more episode to finish John's story. It's like the Tootsie Pop commercial when the owl bites into the center instead of licking it "the world may never know!" God, how irritating. Most shows when they get cancelled, at the very least have some closure, or a final episode. Very disappointing as I really liked this show. Oh well...
This show was done much better a long time ago. It was called Coronet Blue. Check out the listing on this site. Now THAT was a show.
John Doe only lasted a few episodes. I thought that the first 3-4 were really good. It jumped when he lost his memory and then got it back.
