Never did. But the time slot was always Friday night until it was canceled then it was on the CBS infamous "After Hours" rotation with shows like Forever Knight and Silk Stockings.
Yes, this show wasn't on long enough to jump. After all these years (11) I can still remember "Elvis" pigging out in front of Johnny. Great line: "How about a milkshake to wash down that fluffer nutter?" Brilliant!
Never jumped - wasn't around long enough. The Elvis episode and the Virgin Mary episode are both priceless
This show never jumped the shark. It wasn't even on long enough to be given the chance of jumping the shark. I was very young when this show was on, and I only remember it a little bit. I only remember a few of the episodes, but I liked them. I remember on one episode, a cop is about to have sex with this beautiful young lady, and he finds out that she is only seventeen years old. I remember another episode where Johnny hides out with a group of circus people. He becomes good friends with the fat lady, and she talks to him about not minding when people laugh at her because it takes their minds off their own problems for a while. It's weird what I remember from my childhood sometimes.
Never jumped! Then again, it wasn't on for very long. Come to think of it, I only remember it being on late at night, after the talk shows. I loved the shoes, though.
Actually, I don't think CBS moved "Johnny Bago" around the schedule at all. It aired on Friday nights at 10 during the summer of '93. It wasn't picked up as a fall series, so it vanished after its summer run. I still have one of the episodes on tape. The pilot episode, if I remember correctly, was directed by Robert Zemeckis, and it had all the great Zemeckis originality and creativity that you can find in his movies (especially the ones he wrote or produced with Bob Gale). Unfortunately, this is not the episode I have on tape. The show went downhill a little after the pilot, but it was still a fun summer show to watch. Peter Dobson was solid as Johnny, and Timothy Stack from "Son of the Beach" appeared in several episodes, each time as a different character, I believe (in fact, I think he played a female reporter in one episode). Jimmy Buffett's theme song wasn't too shabby either. I'd love to see that first episode again.
