I enjoyed Korg 70000 BC because they showed Neanderthals in a good light. I was 13 when it was shown. They were a close-knit family who hunted, gathered, and learned life's lessons together.
I loved this show!!! I can never find anyone who remembers it. I thought it wsa the best thing I'd ever seen. I watched it when I was about 7 yrs old and felt like I had the rare chance to see another time. It gave my 7 yr old brain a buzz...
I remembered this show where a narrator said something about the meat soaking in the ocean as someone went to get it... I wasn't sure about it 'til you mentioned it! And to think I was laughing at the crazy picture of Korg and that this was some unknown show I never saw, only to realize I used to watch it as a kid!
Too bad the show was up against Land of the Lost (its second season, which was the best).
It had potential.
It had potential.
It was "Make a Wish" back to back with "Animals Animals Animals". It had great, psychedelic-inspired animation sequences. Korg was pretty fun, and a bold step for programmers. I remember the bad makeup, too. There should have been more sex, like in "Quest for Fire".
How did this evolutionist show get on Sunday mornings here in the bible belt? It was shown along with some hippie show, I think it was called "Dream a Dream" or something like that, and another hippie show about animals with great animated sequences called, I think, "Animals, Animals, Animals" (a kind of predecessor of Zaboomafoo). Hal Linden was in the animal show. Korg was great. It was always about how the cave men made some major discovery to advance the human species. The one I remember best was when Man learned to use salt on his food. Some meat was accidentally dropped in the ocean, the Neanderthals retrieved it and ate it. Giving an astonished look to his fellow, one caveman says: "this is the best meat I have ever tasted". Very educational, no? I seem to remember Burgess Meredith narrated Korg.
Intriguing concept. And rather ambitious for a Saturday morning "kid's" show. Planet of the apes on a shoestring budget. Had no intelligible dialogue, but compared to H.R. Puffinstuff or Sigmund and the Sea monster, what is intelligent dialogue? When Korg's neanderthal makeup started running off his nose, I knew the end was in sight. Seemed like I watched that show 70,000 years ago too.
