I thought I read somewhere that the president of ABC Family said that the channel was supposed to be an alternative to MTV. Also, one congressman asked a cable company why ABC Family was not on a family friendly only cable package and the cable man explained that ABC Family falls outside the family friendly range despite its name.

Back on subject, this show is silly. Kyle XY sounds like something found in an adult novelty shop.
This show is nothing more than a piece of crap. I can't understand how people older than 12 can actually watch it. Everything's annoying, I furiously want to slap the hero every time I see his face and the family (especially the mother) is... well....just so annoying. Oh, and in the first episode, the bit that says pretty much:
"but there's one strange thing about him..."
"what is it?"
[terribly anguishing silence]
"...he has no belly button!"

ahahahha! stop it! stop it! I'm laughing too much!!
Kyle XY always has interesting story plots and twists. Plus Has killer season premeres and finales, always leaving you blown away. It's a very well done show.
This is a great show! I already own all the season 1 episodes of Kyle XY from Apple's iTunes and even own the DVD box set. I also own all season 2 episodes thru iTunes and can't wait to get the season 2 DVD box set with all the special features and extras. Bonus features are what makes a DVD better than a download.

No this show hasn't jumped and should not. If a show's jumping is bad for the show -- it means the show is ending production or is no longer even being aired I think then the show hasn't jumped. This show shouldn't jump. It needs to keep going and will. ABC Family has already signed on for a third season of Kyle XY. That's the only ABC Family Original Series I even watch on ABC Family -- and the only one I watch regularly.

I never miss an episode. Well in the first season when it premiered I missed episodes 3, 4, and 5 when they first premiered but went back and re-watched them and then saw episodes 6 onwards without missing any other episodes. I have seen all of the Kyle XY episodes in order and since missing the original airing of episodes 3, 4, 5 in season 1 I have never again missed an episode when it premieres. I always watch new episodes when they come on.
I said it before, and got removed, but will say it again.

This show is just the kids version of "John Doe" and suffers from the comparison. Even the more reslistic human behaviour is just not saving it.

Laura, I bet you enjoy "Pushing Daisies" on a whole differetn level to the rest of us, don't you? :)
It's not the kisses that ruined it as a family show. It's the sex, the talk about feeling girls up, and how this is all perfectly acceptable, even GOOD, if you're dating and you like the girl.

Seriously, people, you must not have children, if you'd consider this a "family" show.
stupid plots and ideas that dont make any sense what a dumb show. I liked it untill it went into all the stuff about the superhuman clones or whatever kyle and that girl are.
bob i agree with the first paragraph did not read the other 6.why why why are comments so l o n g.
Kyle XY began as a charming return to the innocence of pre-90210 teen dramas, with a cool "touch of magic" theme and mystery. In the first season, the writers on Kyle XY took an unusually intelligent and conservative approach to such themes as faith, honesty, loyalty, and adolescent sexuality.

Season two, however, quickly took a sharp political turn. To the overall detriment of the show.

In season one, the character of Amanda Bloom was emotionally strong and wiser than her years, voicing themes of personal faith. In season two Amanda was reduced to a weak and simpleminded victim, increasingly the helpless, whipped puppy with less and less screen time, and very few redeeming moments.

In season two, this strong supporting role migrated from faithful Amanda Bloom to free-spirit Hillary (no surname). Hillary was previously anything but reliable support, but as part of the new direction someone (the Producers? the Network?) decided to take the show, she is a preferable role model. Despite originally being a minor character, shiftless Hillary recieved more and more focus as season two progressed.

Primarily through Amanda Bloom, faith and religion were portrayed as a positive part of Kyle Trager's development in season one. In season two, however, religion is repeatedly denounced. Both offhandedly, as when the character Tom Foss is made to renounce his religious background in a flashback dialogue, and pointedly, as an entire episode is dedicated to establishing a hostility toward religion in the character(s) of Stephen (and Nicole) Trager related to the religiosity of Stephen's father.

Season two also introduced the character Andy Jensen. This character becomes a catalys for much of the new social direction of the program -- some of the instances in which Andy reiterates the fact that her parents are a lesbian couple don't even fit into the dialogue properly (as if someone used a wedge and a mallet). Unsubtle as Andy's homosexual advocacy is, her tragic malady (cancer) is an even less subtle attemp at creating sympathy. Not to mention that Andy is portrayed as the new 'voice of wisdom,' much more pointedly than Amanda in season one, and repeatedly to the awe of even adult characters like Nicole Trager. Perhaps she should have been named 'Mary Sue' Jensen.

Those are the main points that come to mind. Given more time I could compose an essay detailing all the minutia of the shift in direction and general decrease in writing quality throughout season two of Kyle XY. But for the purpose of this post my point is simply this: As of about episode 17 (Free to Be), Kyle XY JUMPED THE SHARK.

It's a shame.
From John: Everything seemed like made up bull-bleep from that point. Oh, and the acting was horrible from the start. I think this show jumped from when season 2 started.
