Shark Bytes

I only watch the reruns even though the show is superficial and sophomoric and has AWFUL values ("pretty stupid women are hot and rich stupid men are cool"). Why do I watch? For James Caan, no other reson. Not that his character is interesting, but he's so good at what he does. Now that he's gone, why bother? Though the Montecito being blown up and Sam being kidnapped and Monica dying, those were all jump the shark moments.

Danny and Delida's union killed it for me. She is comic relief at best, not a romantic lead. Even ignoring her painfully skinny looks, the character has always come off as having the IQ of a box of rocks.

Nikki Cox had to leave the show before her boobs were dangling around her ankles. This show was good for about the 1st two seasons and jumped when they had that whole disappearance of the Marsha Thompson character.

The show jumped at the end of the second season when
1. Marsha Thomason left
2. They imploded the Montecito

This show jumped the shark when it first started. james caan playing the same old tired thug type as usual even if it is smoothed over with the nice guy thing. And Mary was originally supposed to be a hooker which would have been a hundred times more intersting than as a "hostess". She's a great actress but even nikki couldnt save this show which was destined for the tv show landfill! And everyone knows the casinoes are only interested in ripping off the public and keeping the public from doing the same to them.All the other stuff was to cover up how boring those places are. Just a place for senile citizens to spend their social security checks playing one armed bandits. lol

Pairing Danny with Delinda killed the show . I voted for the losing James Caan and Nikki Cox theory, but the truth is that Delinda is a whiny hag and she brings the show way down. If you had to pair Danny with anyone after sweet Mary left, then why not pair him with Sam. At least there would be some decent acting. I am on the "maybe this show should be canceled now", bandwagon. If not, then figure out a way to make Danny a single guy again. A dream sequence thing would be good for that! And then in the dream, we could find out that Ed and Mary were still there.

Losing James Caan was the dumbest thing they've done. Selleck's a good guy but he's nowhere near involved in plots the way Caan was. With Caan there was a definite edge to everything. And this dumb idea of Cooper only being called by his last name, come on! Nikki Cox leaving was no great loss, she was dull. I actually think Piper's kinda hot.

A baby for Danny! Are you f******g kidding me? Now that is what you call jumping the shark. Too bad, it was good in it's first two seasons.

Piper (the very hispanic/native american looking chick that cannot act) said Mike's family has a problem with here being White. That was funny. I guess that would make Mike Lebanese. I'm going to be mongolian for now on. Better build a wall.

This show is basically useless now without Nikki Cox or James Caan. I'm rarely amused and I hate Delinda. Pregnant or not.

Why did the show cut James Caan?

In the beginning, let's face it, this show was all about eye candy. It never was about plot or character development or anything else. It jumped the shark gradually as it ceased being just about eye candy and began trying to be something more. Now, almost everybody in the show has become obnoxious; they all get on my nerves and there is nobody to "ground" the show anymore like James Caan could do.

I think they jump the shark when they keep picking on poor Mike. This guy can't even get a break all the women he likes are ether gay or married.

I have to go with the departure of James Caan. I really feel the show is missing it's anchor with him gone. I also miss Nikki Cox more than I thought I would. Although she wasn't the best actress, she was much better than Molly Sims and this baby storyline with Danny McCoy is really dragging the show down. All in all, I think the moment Caan left, the show died.

This show jumped the shark when they hooked Danny up with Delinda in a 'real' relationship. Give me a break! They have absolutely no connection, even though they are supposed to be having a child together. Delinda is whiny and bitchy and it is painful to try and watch the actress who portrays her to emote anything other than annoyance.
Maybe they can send her off to live with her parents when Danny kicks her to the curb because he finds out the baby isn't his. Then he can play the field and at the end of the series maybe settle down with Mary and Ed will make a guest appearance. That would be a treat for the faithful viewers but oh yeah, there all watching something else on Friday nights now.
