From season one to two, MADtv had some good stuff. It wasn't as great as what was going to come, but there still were some hilarious, racy sketches.

Then came seasons three to five. Some of the best members of the show were on there. Even people who stayed for only one season like Chris Hogan, Lisa Kushell, or Andrew Bowen, were amazing. The show was putting lots of quality sketches out there.

Season six to seven was sort of up and down. Phil LaMarr and Pat Kilbane were lost, although we got some fresh members (Stephanie Weir and Frank Caliendo, among others). Most of the sketches were good, but some of the older recurring characters were starting to get stale after being shown 10+ times.

Following that, there were seasons eight to ten. Favorites like Will Sasso and Alex Borstein left, but there were a lot of brilliant sketches during this time period because the show got a whole lotta new, funny people. Many of the featured players in season eight and nine would become repertory members.

Eleven to twelve was okay. Aries Spears, Debra Wilson, and Mo Collins were gone by then. There were still some funny sketches, but a lot of them were average or just sucked.

But the horrifying season 13...a complete change in the theme song, experimentation with featured players, Johnny Sanchez, Bobby Lee being shown too much, Michael McDonald becoming rather unfunny, etc. I'll admit there were a few sketches that made me smile, but otherwise, this was when the show Jumped The Shark.

But season 14 has some potential. The Coach Hines sketch, the Nanny sketch, and Viva La Cheata are a bit funny. However, casting Bobby Lee as McCain is just embarassing to watch, and even though SNL sucks, they still are great with political sketches, something MADtv cannot do right now.

Sketch comedy is becoming old as a genre... I haven't seen a truly good sketch show in a while now. I wish there were more shows like the old SNL and MADtv, SCTV, and In Living Color.
I miss Nicole Sullivan. She was truly the star of the show. After she left, it was never the same. So much of the original cast then left that it was no longer the MADtv I knew and loved.
also they have to stop with the mccain obama skit. im not a hater of mad tv, but snl pulls of the tina fey/sarah palin better. although i like bobbly as mccain
i miss ike barinholtz. i hate the new 4 ppl except for the black girl. she actually has talent
This used to be one of the best shows on tv. The best cast was Michael McDonald, Mo Collins, Ike Barinholtz, Nicole Sullivan, Wil Sasso, Bobby Lee, Debra Wilson and of course - Mrs. Swan. After they started to leave one right after another, the show went downhill from there...Now without Michael Mcdonald - it has officially JTS.
I say just give the new cast a chance. I think if they just stay MADtv and not MADtv trying to be like SNL, then theyll survive.
Mad TV sucks now. All these new deadbeats aren't funny. I want the old cast back. Just cancel it , Fox.
I miss Mo Collins, Debra Wilson, Phil
LaMarr and Ike B. It's just not as funny. The parody of Step Up with the sign spinner was one of the worst I've ever seen. Also, the Dr. Phil/Spears family sketch was boring, and the babies shooting out was done before on Martin. You know a show is in trouble when it steals a lame idea like that. Mad TV has gone from must-see-TV to something to pass the time if you can't find anything else to watch, and the sad thing is even at its lamest it's better than SNL.
MADtv will never JTS. Its always funny, unlike SNL (please just go away SNL!) I love Ike and Bobby Lee. Especially when Ike told Bobby Lee he looked like a waiter at Buca de bepos in his tux. Truelly a milk thru the nose moment for me. I like all of the episodes especially when members of the cast crack up like in Lillian Vernors skits. You guys are hillarious! Keep up the great work!!!!
i think the bon qui qui skit isnt that that funny
Season 13 really was terrible, the way the people who production went (changed theme song, writer's strike) really screwed up MadTV, we maybe could have had like 10 more episodes, I still enjoy the new episodes but Season 13 I think is where it jumped. The funniest skits in my opinion was that "Down Home Pancake ad", the Hannah Montana skit and the second skit of the year with Johnny Gan
Will Sasso was by far the best dude on the show, Mad TV was killed when he left.

Sooooooooooo many hilarious skits, Steven Seagal, Kenny Rogers, Lance Bass, etc.
The cast from the late 90's- early 2000's was the best, IMO. This included the last seasons of Nicole Sullivan, as well as Will Sasso, Alex Borstein, Debra Wilson, Phil Lamarr and Stephnie Weir at various points. This cast did the best impressions and satire, and was almost always funnier than SNL (which went into a tailspin when Jimmy Fallon showed-up). While it's still funnier than SNL (that's not saying much: the News Hour With Jim Lehrer has more chuckles than SNL these days), the new format and cast isn't as good. As other posters have said, Bobby Lee gets naked waaay too much, and Michael McDonald stayed too long.
season 12, it became less sketch, more "hey, let's shoot a *****, put it in high-def, and throw a couple of jokes in". the theme song is not a big deal, but i do miss it, the ne crappyooks promising, but the show format is just crappy, they especially lost me with the intermissions (I'm Madonna's kid, I get millions, hahaha, look at me, i'm funny and in the current events of a famous person) no, it's not, really
Season 13.

-Carlos Mencia Guest Stars.
-Totally Sucky Johnny Sanchez and other castmates.
-Theme Song Replaced.
-Writer's Strike
-Michael McDonald Quits after 10 Years.

Yeah. MadTV is now at the point of no return, and its shark bait.

RIP Good MadTV.
1995-2007
