I grew up right over the GWB and I remember these girls...I guess we remember these things b/c we're good natured people like them. We understand each other. See ya' See ya'.....
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who loved The Magic Garden. I have had the "See Ya" song in my head since I was a kid. It used to be on like 2 or 2:30 then when I finally had to go to elementary school I'd miss it so I didn't get to see the last several years. It was a different time then. I've enjoyed reading these posts. And about the PIX, that was a game you played over the phone and said "PIX" to block the "ball". It was like that old Atari game. I remember how scratchy the kids sounded, like they were calling from space
I watched this in kindergarten. Always liked the mousy blondish one more. I saw this as a rerun about 15 years ago (I live in NYC) the dark haired hippy kinda had a decent set of hips on her. Even as a kid I started to get annoyed by flapper the bird and thought he was effeminate. And no they werent lesbians, just two hippies. Oh and I think the set cost about 15 bucks - they must have spent the leftover 20 on an eigth.
Our children enjoyed The Magic Garden so much . We still have the records and a record player on which to play them -- Now that I have a grand daughter I am anxiously awaiting for the dvd's to come out ... Television is missing the pureness of that show .
I loved this show in the 70's in NYC. Joyas fun school replaced it on Friday. Paula and Carole definitely had a a hippy slightly lesbian vibe but they were great.
The jokes from the daisy patch were always really dumb, but I loved Seymore.
"here in the garden of make believe!"
Never jumped the shark, we just grew up. So I guess we jumped.

i have been trying to find someone other than myself that remembered the magic garden. everyone looks at me like i am crazy. i loved this show. i just saw on line that in 2008 the shows will be comin out on DVD!!! i cant wait, my kids will love this!
I forgot all about this show! I used to watch when I came home for lunch. Way back then kids who lived near the school could actually go home for lunch..no one worried about being abducted back then! I loved the silly little riddles that came out of the chuckle patch.
I loved Wonderama, too. My sisters and I were on that show in early 1975 with Bob McCallister. It was an awesome experience.
My son is 10 and loves the PBS shows. He comes home right after school and has his snack and watches Arthur and Fetch. It's not impossible to save a little of childhood...but it does take a commitment to be a stay at home parent.

I just realized something after reading through these posts, and kinda crying a little....
The kids of our generation were really let down, huh.....
Those days of half day kindergarten, when you'd come home to your mom and a grilled cheese sandwich, or Koogle peanut butter sandwich, or better yet a Fluffernutter sandwich...watching Magic Garden, or Kimba the Lion, or Captain Kangaroo, or Wonderama....the dream of ever winning a Ross Apollo 3 speed....
We thought it was gonna be different when we grew up. Look at how radically different life turned out to be...Now no one is home after school, and there are so many dam activities to go to, you don't even enjoy a nice afternoon spent doing spinouts with your big wheel down the driveway when your mom said Hey Kids, Kool Aid, and no one talked about being fat, or having cancer.....and your mom didn't work out, except maybe some stretches with Jack LaLanne. I really hate the way this all turned out. I thought there were no locks on storybox, but i was wrong.

Two sweet ladies sang songs and entertained the kids for half an hour.
What's wrong with that?

Thank goodness for the "Magic Garden" because it left many magic memories of my childhood. Everybody I speak to that grew up in NY love to talk about the chuckle patch, the magic tree and the story box and of course that crazy squirrel Sherlock. The stories about he "Magic Garden" alway put smiles on all of our faces. The greatest kids show of all time. I would love to get DVD's so my daughter can enjoy Paula and Carol just as I did. Remember" there are not locks on the storybox"
The greatest children's show ever! The girls were so sweet, and they really did work magic. Plus, I had a HUGE crush on Carole!
When I lived in Brooklyn the puppeteer, Charles Antebi, knew the orthodox rabbi father of neighborhood friends and had lived in the neighborhood a few months. He would often visit and told stories of "Smooshie and Ooshie" of which only I knew were "The Honeymooners" since the kids didn't watch television. The best part was when he performed for a Purim party. There was Sherlock still going after those peanuts!
The show was called Joyas Fun School.. and yet there was a puppet named Charlie.
It aired on Fridays.. Monday thru thursday was The Magic Garden.
Rememeber the title song:
this is a garden of make belivie, a magical garden of make belive, where flowers chuckle and birds play tricks and the magic tree grow lollypopstick.
Here in the garden what we say and do.. we'd like you to join us and do it to... can you crow like a rooster.. cockadoodoldo... can you clap you hands and stamp you shoe..
can you scream for me ... ahhhhh
I'll scream for you... oooooaaaaaooooo
its a funny place but its surely true and we'd like to share it all with you...
so come right in without a fuss cause the magical garden is a waiting for us...
i cant believe i just remembered that.... how funny

I used to work for a tv show a couple years ago and we had carole and paula on as guests. I loved that show growing up so it was like meeting my idols. They were really nice and gave me an autographed two set VHS tape of the old show. They're still performing in and around NY, I think their website is caroleandpaula.com
