Since this is a post site where anyone can share when they think a show has lost it's power to please the only thing that I have to share is those who love a show and feel the need to hurl insults and names (idots,morons,etc)at anyone that doesn't agree with them.
Okay, so some of you love a show, don't take is so personally when someone doesnt like your show anymore or even those that hated the show. You're not the ones being picked on so why get so worked up at those that don't love everything you do. It's called opinions, that's all. Calm down. Unless these actors are members of your family or your best friends it's okay for people not to like everything they do. I'm sure you won't like every show that they do either. Let it go.

it jumped the shark when they dropped cynthia sanders she was a lovable character she was malcolm's sparring partner she was great especialy when she hit puberty it beat's me why they got rid off her what a waste

The "Grandparents" episode was made, pathetically and the less said about the "Traffic Ticket" one the better.

When Reese joined the Army! The show basically became cartoony right after that. I mean, "George Jetson"?! C'mon.

The "Funeral" episode did'nt make 'any' sense.

I remember an episode where there was an advertisment for a beer that used a black janitor, and 90% of the episode focused of Lois' efforts to get it out of the store by saying it was racist. Really stupid episode and just another attempt at getting higher rating by having some stupid race issue. I think that's when the show jumped. It definitely got worse as the seasons wore on (1 and 2 were pretty good), but that episode I wrote about just killed it.

It's a real tempter to say Jamie's birth, but I can't really see much of a decline after. Perhaps plots got more and more far-fetched, but the writers, to their credit, saw they were running out of ideas and ended the show.

Never jumped.

It never really jumped. It more like wore out it's welcome, to me largely because the characters became flat-out unlikable. The poster before me is right. Not even Malcolm was rootable by the end.

I don't think this show ever jumped the shark (it's one of my favorites), but I do think that the addition of Jamie was pointless. I wish they had not worked Jane's pregnancy into the show and had instead taken a year off or so.

I also think that Malcolm increasingly became an unlikeable character as the show went on, but then he was never my favorite character to begin with.

The show JTS several times:
1. Jamie being a boy and not a girl - so many different story lines they could have had
2. Francis becoming a guest star
3. Malcolm becoming a creep
4. Reese not becoming a chef at the end

This show never jumped. The writing is brilliant, clever, and witty. The actors are superb. Lois is so different from the usual bland sitcom mom--think of boring Patricia Heaton on Raymond.

Anyone who doesn't think this show is hilarious has no sense of humor whatsoever.

For the record, I think the Cynthia-bashing posts were all written by the same person. She or he is not very original.

Could never jump for being unrealistic, because the whole point of it was to be unrealistic, I'm sure...I judge by unrealistic categories such as spotless homes and I don't think their's was that clean so in that sense , it's ok. I can't remember if the guys wore shirts to sleep (which would be unrealistic)

When I first heard of this show I thought it was a live-action Simpsons (dysfunctional family, etc.). But after watching some episodes, I realized I made a foolish assumption. MitM is great, and nothing like the Simpsons at all. Except for the dysfunctional family part, but that doesn't count! I'm torn with Jaime's birth. On one hand, it allowed Dewey to have a bigger part, but on the other hand the dynamic with 3 boys and two parents is thrown out of whack. At least it maintains the "every child will be a boy" curse that's befallen poor Lois. Though the show may have changed, it was still good.

Came close to jumping with the last kid but knew when to quit. I always thought Reese was the coolest,
if a bit of a troublemaker. i think Justin Berfield is a great actor, hope to see him again.

Overall, I liked this show but Malcolm's puberty was problematic. He became disturbingly obsessive in his relationship with girls and his legs were disturbingly hairy. I like hairy legs on guys but something about his - not so much. Reese was always my favorite and he would be cool to hang out with. Never saw the point of having the fifth kid.
