Somebody remembers this show besides me? Great!

The original movie that inspired it was good, but this show was all wrong even if it did have Kurt Russell.
"The New Land" was an ABC drama, based on the Swedish movie of the same name, that ran about six episodes in the 1974-75 season. It concerned the lives of Swedish immigrants in Minnesota in the 1850s. It was very scenic, a little slow-moving, and had a boring leading man in the soon-forgotten Scott Thomas. The rest of the cast, however, was excellent, including Bonnie Bedelia, Donald Moffat, and Kurt Russell in just about his first non-Disney role. It was a better show than Little House on the Prairie ever was, and deserved a full season to find its audience, but unfortunately never got it.
