Well done, professor.
Anyway, never jumped during the series, but the specials did sort of give a Hollywood ending to something that was previously poetry.

The British 'Office' is so far superior to the American one mainly because of the subtlety of the acting and the feeling you'd get while watching that you knew someone just like him (Brent). This show never jumped the Shark. It hardly had time to get off its feet. If only American spoke the English language...
Hahahaha 32 people are stupid. The last episode can't jump! It's hard to go downhill from the last episode!
Never, ever jumped.
I find it funny some voted for the final X-Mas special as the JTS point...it was the LAST episode! There's nowhere for the shark to jump to!

SNL has been through more ups and downs, great and lousy seasons, funny and not funny writers/actors. Hopefully, the last few post-strike episodes of The Office are a short detour before the show gets back onto the same road.

13 episodes, including the Christmas special. Each lovingly crafted, with only the last special offering any glimmer of hope - I don't think that glimmer of hope could be called gushingly feelgood, it was pretty minor at best.
Never jumped, and never will as there will never be another series...so it remains forever perfect

There was a slight jump in the 6th episode of the first series.
Brent is initially offered the job of UK General Manager 5 votes to 2 by the board. Of course later we find out he's been ousted from the job due to failing the health test.
When we see Neil in the following series, are we seriously suggesting that the board would have initially chosen Brent instead?

How could anyone possibly suggest that this show jumped? It was only on for two short seasons and, basically, one special. Every episode was amazing. I think that the second season was even more brilliant than the first. David Brent's motivational speech is one of the funniest things ever. I liked the Xmas special. I guess the ending was a bit corny, but it made me feel good. I think that David deserved happiness. Sure he was a goof, but he wasn't a bad person. I like how David sort of comes to terms with himself in a way....A lot of humor and humanity in this show. Maybe the best show ever. It's too bad that it didn't last longer but I have so much respect for them for ending it on a high note.
never worked in an office, doesn't really detract anything from it because I didn't. Quit while your ahead, bloomin ace.
Sigh, us "Yanks" are only able to see this show through DVD's and YouTube. They're both like two COMPLETELY diffrent shows, but both are good. I love this show, and I've never even seen a full episode! Long live David Brent!
Anyone who has said this show jumped the shark really doesn't know what they're talking about. Definetly one of the best comedies ever and should have had another few seasons.
Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant are comic geniuses, and we should all be greatful to the UK for sharing those fine fellows with all of us in the USA.
I have to disagree with a previous post that said the christmas finale was too feel good and unlike the rest of the series. First of all, how can it be feel good when we don't actually know what happened afterwards? David doesn't get his job back and we're only assuming he's finally going to get a girlfriend because she wants him to call her. Also, Tim and Dawn do kiss but we don't know how long they're going to be together, or if they even move in together. Plus Dawn doesn't become some famous artist and it's pretty obvious she's going to stay a secretary...and Tim keeps his job there instead of going to school from what we're told. Either way, I like that they left the fate of the characters up to the audience...and David telling Finch to @#$% off was great!
I've never worked in a office, and didn't get this show at all. A lot of people I know who have worked in offices loved it because it was accurate. Those feelings made me even more determined never to work in an office.
The birth of the smug b'stard as a mainstay of British comedy, so should be penalized for that. With out David Brent David Mitchell would have just been a fat straight man. The world is a worse place now.
