The best Olympics are still the 1988 Winter Games. The double whammy of the Jamaican bobsled team and ski-jumper Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards is too uch for anyone to top.
I enjoyed NBC's coverage of this year's Olympics. The opening cermony, hands down, was the most dazzling and perfectly choreographed ever! I don't know if this was the work of NBC or the Chinese, but the filming of most events had heart-stopping production values, with cameras following ahteletes on rails, even underwater. The volleyball players were my heroes. It was proof that even beach bums can find fame and reward on the world stage! The JTS event was Women's Gymnastics, with the obvious Chinese fraud of the age of their gymnasts. These CHILDREN were plainly pre-pubescent. It brought back old memories of Cold War propaganda advanced by the Commies how their "amateur" (graduates of the Mao Tse Tung Institute of Physical Culture) athetes wre superior to us decadent Westerners. The Chinese pull this crap in the face of their sorry record with Tibet and other human rights issues. NBC commentators had the courage to call them on it,though.
Wow the Chinese are killing a whole race and you say that is not important. Was the attempt to wipe out the Jews not important? Is the agenda of the UN to kill all but 200,000,000 of so of the people in the world not important. It's in the UN charter. Wow the kids today must be stuck in their Utube, Ebay worlds. I didn't boycott watching the games and loved Volleyball, Gymnastics, Track & Field, PIng-Pong and Swimming. The #1 Volleyball player was amazing- choking in the 2nd set and then ripping the winners in the 3rd like it didn't effect him while the Brazilian was about to be rushed to the hospital. BUt wow the Chinese are killing a whole race and you act like that is not important. That shut-up the Ol La eoos or whatever. The IOC should be ashamed of itself for giving the Olympics to the Chinese- they should have never given the government this chance. 400,000+ are already dead in the Sudan. Wow man and you don't care? Wow I'd hate to have your bill from Ebay and the Strawberry Shortcake tea set you probably bought.
What I expected was coverage of what is really going on because of the Chinese including buying up all our debt and exterminating a race through autracities and the athletes getting to speak out about it. That could happen without interfering with the games. Autrocities means dozens of different things at the level of holding down the boys and setting them on fire.

Also while I thought NBC did a much better job this year despite all the incredible amount of camp and not just the camp of showing Phelp's mother as often as possible- I hope ABC get it for London when I will be watching as close to 24 hours as possible. Bring out the Jolt, the canned chesse, the Twizlers, the Freetoes, oh man. But ABC when you get it by not being cheap this time please remember your traditions with Wide World of Sport where you take pride in showing a lot of diversity with great commentary. On Wide World we could see the spectrum of sports from around the world and get great commentary as well as a contender with Johnny Quest for greatest titles of all time. At NBC everything is camp, Michael Phelps,
Volleyball, Gymnastics. That was all great but there was a lot of mayhem in other games and some diverse and interesting stories to tell plus even more ability to see events live. ABC understands this or at least they use to understand and I hope we can get back to it. To the posters who wanted stuff like Weightlifting and Martial Arts that would be ABC. Albeit the cheating I have seen in the Martial competitions was mind-boggling. The guy is supposed to win the first time he throws the guy off the mat. Not lose after throwing him off about 12 times and then he won't show for the medal.

Wow man I think we need to send some of these kids overseas to experience some of these tragedies first hand and let them do some ministry like on The Hills. Amazing. What's one more black boy being set on fire, it's getting in the way of my Ebay purchase. Wow I must be so out of the loop of what is cool.
I think for the most part, they did a good job covering the Olympics this year! :) I think Bob Costas was very good, and the other announcers were too. my favorite things to watch were swimming, diving, gymnastics and beach volleyball.
Forget about Tibet, socal repression, infant genocide and all that crap. It is the Olympics and it is our only chance every four years to watch platform diving, synchronized swimming, speed walking and air pistol and have it mean anything to anyone.
Regarding the little girl who wasn't pretty enough to be seen singing on camera:

I think the not-so-good-looking gold, silver, and bronze medal winners in the men's sports should have had good-looking stand-ins on the podiums or worn masks.
The Olympics is now about making money and They dont care about the games of pride and unity. This Year Olympics have been the Most Overrated Ever. And the IOC turned a blind eye of the Poor Chinese People are dying by their government and NBC didn't care about that person died during the Olympics, they care about Phelps,The Redeem Team, and their ratings that this year consired the Most Watch Olympics Ever.

P.S. 2008 Summer Olympics have jumped the shark.
If the IOC refuses or is unable to take any stance against China for committing the genocide of an entire race and then Tibet and whatever else then why did it
reward the latest Hitler with the Olympics? Look I know that a lot of the top people feel like all but about 200 million people should be killed off the face of the planet- it's in the UN charter for one example- but since China is killing an entire race, it should not have been awarded the Olympics. They are already trying to take over the world and America and allowed to do it. I thought we learnt our history after WWII.
I have been disappointed that Bob Costas hasn't provided coverage and talked about the Chinese genocide in the Sudan in exchange for gold and oil.
He promised that he was going to be talking about these things and criticized Tiger Woods for keeping silent and yet I haven't heard him say anything or interview the Speed Skater who started the protests.

I mean the rebels are burning the boys alive, raping the women and children and then killing the husbands, burning the villages and letting the women and child starve before they feed them their husbands and don't tell them and then let the survivors wander the earth often before killing them. The accounts from different people on this are the same.
The Chinese are allowing this to happen and the world does nothing like with Hitler in the 30s. I expected more from Costas.
I am also let down with the track and field. There is no way that the winners are that much better than they were earlier in their careers like that- it isn't humanly possible- unless they are using steroids and then masking them with drugs so they don't get caught. Why doesn't Costas have on Carl Lewis to discuss which ones he thinks are not natural and should have their medals taken from them? Lewis seems to know these things better than anyone. I like him because unlike the Lance Armstrongs who probably got away with steroids Lewis was always and natural man and he took great pride in being one. Costas interview him like you did Bella to get to the bottom of the cheating in Track and Field and why the US are losing so much. You don't improve like that at that level of play unless you are cheating- not in running. I was talking to a guy who ran in College who told me that professional atheletes will know when they see this high improvement like with the Jamacian guy who has made major gains from where he was before that it has to be steroids because in normal conditions no pro runners would ever do that much better. You'd see a much small level of improvement. So I'll just say that Carl Lewis remains the greatest runner ever. The natural man!
The "athlete" who kicked the referee in the face/head in taekwondo (ON PURPOSE) should not only be banned for life from the Olympics, but he should
be in jail for some time for assault as well!
Guest from August 19 -- we are interested in your views, could you try using paragraphing?

BUT -- NBC did a decent job. The announcers were very analytical and explained things. Even the horse-jumping lady, which I didn't think I would care anything about, was good. The diving, swimming and gymnastics were all enjoyable due to the analysis.

Katie's absnence can only be good for ANY network.
Well you know if the Chinese officials don't recognize anything but golds so they have to cheat to get their guys to the gold or some official might take away their 1% of the advertising fee, bulldoze the family hut and then dig a hole and shot the poor athlete in the back of the head. I mean it's just a medal, getting on the Wheaties box and 50-100 millions+ more in advertising for the American athletes. But it;s living in a cardboard box or getting shot in the back of the head for the Chinese who don't gold. So you know Shawn and Nastia might have saved a life or two.
I enjoyed watching Jonathan Horton! He is enthusiastic and a team player. He motivated his team and showed that he cared about his teammates and about our country. Further, he is also the only athlete that I have heard thank God for his blessings (maybe others have, but Horton is the only one I have heard give glory to God during this Olympics). I feel that Horton represented the USA well, and he made some of us feel even prouder to be Americans. Thank you, Jonathan!.
Shawn Johnson (USA female on the balance beam) was not perfect (the landing, for instance), but she did so WELL! A couple of more girls to go...
A 15.950 by a Chinese girl on Tuesday night who was unsteady at least twice. The woman announcer said "too high" (meaning this rating she got). This is another case of blatant cheating by judges.
