Or maybe the fact that it contained outright evangelistic comments? The men spoke openly about Jesus... and that's make a lot of people uncomfortable.
I remember watchung this show only because it was the most ridiculous premise ever...but it wasn't a bad show. I didn't see the episode you mention, but I like the idea of using
old clips that way, is this show available anywhere(dvd/vhs?)
I used to be a big fan of Outlaws when it originally aired, despite some of the most juvenile writing this side of a Rawhide Kid comic book. But on what might have been the show's final episode, the Outlaws are being shot at in their home from an outside set of snipers, and during a lull in the action, Jonathan Grail tells this story about how he and Wolfson Lucas were part of a wagon train from Georgia to the west. And the flashback footage came from an old 1970's TV show, "The Oregon Trail," starring Rod Taylor and Charles Napier, who played Jonathan Grail and Wolf Lucas on the Outlaws series! They simply dubbed over the characters' names whenever the original "Oregon Trail" show characters would have been mentioned, and voila - a flashback episode. And over the shark it went.
It jumped the shark when the network didn't carry it anymore. Finally a decent show with a Western flair (something the New York and L.A. crowd don't like apparently since none of the cowboys lived in a 2000 square foot NYC apartment that would cost them $4000 a month and kvetch constantly about things that don't really matter when you're paying $4000 for an apartment Donald Trump couldn't afford. We need westerns...remember Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Big Valley, Have Gun Will Travel, etc.? Oh, I'm sorry, there are no screaming dysfunctional parents in these and if there are, they get shot. But that's a violation of someone's rights. Outlaws never jumped. It was pushed.
Lets do it, Amen, Slow and easy, but all the way, To the hilt...... need I say more Jonathan Grail and Harlan Pike brother Billy Wolfson Lucas and one other guy I can't remember the show didn't last long maybe the scene when they blow away all the watermelons when these 1880's bad men turned good men in the 1980's are introduced to automatic weapons. Or maybe when the one guy is waving a lightning rod out in a thunderstorm because he wants to go back to his own time.
