In the UK we didn't have it for long, but gosh I loved it so.
Sarah Rue is an amazing actress.
I loved the relationships and Will Butler was awesome! Shame it finished.
I loved this show when it was first on and Sara Rue is adorable! I haven't seen the episodes since it came back from hiatus but now I have to search YouTube for them. It's sad that they didn't make more out of it. I guess maybe it was too much like Ugly Betty. I think Sara Rue and Melissa Peterman should have a show together.
I loved this show. Very sharp, and (outside of the main character) unsentimental. I don't care about Sara Rue's supposed fatness, I do care that the writing as superb.
Oh, And I think the Jeb Denton character was excellent - "Secretaaryyy".
As Andrea Parker was given more airtime the show got instantly better.
the best sitcom ever made
no joke
The fat hornbag from Popular and Andy bloody dick? The show was destined to get cancelled. DAY 1 people! Day 1!
why abc?? why???
this show's adorable...why? abc did you cancel it??

the precursor to ugly betty
This show had an enormous amount of potential, mostly because of its amazing cast, but the addition of Patrick Warburton as Jeb screwed it up beyond repair. Lydia and Kip were superficial materialists on the show, but when Jeb came along Lydia's interactions with Kip became rare, and he often seemed to have nothing to do. I would have to agree with an earler comment that Patrick Warburton is the new Ted McGinley. He's a one-trick pony, and it's a pretty annoying trick at that. And Sara Rue is hot!
Claude actually having, rather than seeking, a sexual relationship changes the entire nature of the show. If the show were able to survive, the object of her lust would certainly have to be someone other than Carl.
I think some of the contributors' comments here about a talented and beautiful and SEXY actress like Sara Rue are ridiculous. Someone here said that we have too many fat people. As far as TV goes I disagree, what we have way, way, by far too much of are skinny, emaciated, androgynous females being touted by Hollywood as something to desire.
I was eagerly awaiting the Season 4 beginnings, but I've been disappointed so far. Claude and Carl??! Kip and Ramona becoming friends?! The show seems to be losing it's quirky and sweet nature. Claude is going from semi-dorky and cute to a slimmer, swankier persona. I liked Will Butler too, and he's gone. The interaction between the characters overall seems to have become more ordinary.
Okay I have to comment on some of the remarks here: Sara Rue -- Fat? Yes, but she has been losing weight over the past two or three years and by the third season, she was surprisingly thin. I wouldn't audition for the starring role in a Kate Smith biopic if I were her, unless she was willing to eat more. Ugly? Well, she does tend to overdo the make-up with isn't exactly a turn-on for me, but otherwise she's not half-bad looking. And regardless of this, the show is funny and Sara is talented. Trey Parker & Matt Stone of South Park fame may've been right about Eric Roberts in the past, but that was before he was still trying to pass himself off as a teenager or a twenty-something, and landed the role of Will Butler. Older reporters do and have existed. Andy Dick IS weird as Owen Kronsky, but not as stupid as Matthew Brock. Sherri Shepherd as "the token black character?" Maybe. She certainly has huge tits, something that's frequently used as the butt of jokes. My biggest complaint about the show is that they dumped the second season theme song, one-fourth of the way through the second season.
The Less Than Perfect Episode where the whole gang had to go through therapy to learn how to work together was the high point for the entire show-which was basically about office workers from different classes putting up with each other. In this episode they all had to use their own talents to accomplish a goal...in this instance raising money. In the gambling casino they were in, Claude gave them all instructions-like telling Lydia to use her charm to get chips and having Andy Dick inform her of the other gamblers' signals. What their therapist had called their weak points were actually their strong points, as they all realized. The therapist had actually set them up and he saw how they had accomplished their goal by all working together. ("In Unity there is strength."-Aesop) I realize that anything after this episode was and will be anticlimactic. Personally I do not think having Lydia get married-especially to that blowhard-was a good idea because much of Lydia's appeal lies in her being single. Having her marry is a mistake IMHO. Her character is the kind who can best be a hit of she stays a miss. (Chuckle!) Less Than Perfect is one of the few shows I see these days and I am glad it is only being put on hiatus this season (instead of being canned for good, as two of my other favorites shows have been). But I really wonder if it will be able to maintain quality.
You know that a television sitcom isn't very funny when even the canned laughter barely makes a sound after lame one liners from the fat main character (Sara Rue). I also don't see anything about her being fat being so significantly refreshing or good? Enough people today are fat, so why are we so happy to see more fat people on the television? Being fat isn't healthy, ok? Anyway, sure the show had its moments, but overall there really were way too many times Rue threw in jokes that weren't funny. It was clear these were meant to be jokes, because you did hear one or two giggles from the "audience", but that was all. It was like an "oh, well at least she's trying" or an "I sure feel sorry for her" laugh. Very disappointing.
