Jeff Goldblum, Monk, and Medium all wrapped into one sure sounded like a sure-fire hit, but after watching the first episode, I completely forgot about it and never saw it again. Then it was gone in what, a month anyways? I guess it wasn't just me that was left impressionless. Can't say if it ever jumped or not, because it was gone in a flash.
this was a terrific show that never got any hype or a chance for that matter. Damn shame. Now I just hope that N.ow B.roadcasting C.rap dosen't cancel Life or Chuck.
Of course they cancelled this show! It was intriguing, intelligent, well-acted. My absolute favorite of the season. I watched every show twice -- once when it played, and a second time playing the video on the internet. I am apparently not the right demographic for network TV. Well, no news there -- I learned that a long, long time ago.
I loved this show and I wasn't even a fan of Jeff Goldblum. The only thing I liked him in before this was Into the Night with Michelle Pheiffer. But, this show made me see him as the fine actor he is. I looked forward to it every week. The plot lines were great. I especially loved the one about the homeless woman. It was sad and had touches of humor at the same time. Really made you see people in a different light. I'm really going to miss it and wish the television execs would give certain shows a chance before they give up on them. Some shows they go out of their way for and move them around until they find an audience. Others, they give up on. They didn't even promote the show very well.
Since NBC canceled my favorite show and the only reason I watched television, I have canceled NBC and no longer watch that network. Goodbye Raines - I will miss you.
they need to put the show back on its a great show jeff goldblum is a great actor i liked him in into the night he does a great job in anything he does cbs and nbc sucks
I agree with the above poster.NBC is about as comitted as a playboy is to one woman to its shows. They throw them out of the nest without so much as a chance and then wonder why they are in fourth place.Hmmmmm?????I don't mean to seem arrogant but I hold PhD's in Journalism and English Literature and every show I figured as a hit for NBC they quickly cancelled. They are run by incompetents but then only CBS in my opinion has any dignity left.
This was a great show...terrific lead turn by Goldblum with a strong supporting cast, good writing and a nice modern day noir style. Too bad NBC didn't realize what it had and gave it the axe. Maybe networks will figure out that unless a show has some time to draw an audience, it isn't going to. They should have put this on USA as a companion to Monk and Psych.
I loved "Raines"...such a great format and Jeff Goldblum was perfect!!!

Why do ALL the good actor shows leave? Why do we have to watch all that reality crap???????
Bring back REAL actors and some comedys!
To POster Re: "shoe" It was Tenspeed And Brownshoe" with Ben Vereen (sp) They were acouple of fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants slueths !
What show was Jeff Goldblum in that had words like Red shoe and Gum Shoe in. It was in the uo's
This show is essentially "Ghost Whisperer" without the ghosts, since the "visions" are actually figments of Raines imagination. Every conversation he had was essentially:
Raines:"So, can you tell me who would want to kill you?"
Apparition Of The Week:"How the hell would I know? I'm YOU."
That got old after the first 15 minutes.
I see that NBC has not renewed Raines. Too bad. It was a perfect vehicle for Jeff Goldblum.
I love this show, and have always been a huge Jeff Goldblum fan.

This is a smart, fresh and interesting show that appeals to the over 30 crowd, and to younger fans as well.

We need more shows that are witty and written for viewers who are no longer in their teens.
Terrific show. I've loved Jeff Goldblum since he appeared in all those great television shows back in the late 70's. I wish he'd get a (another) partner though. I think that would make things much more interesting. A male partner.
