guys. Nothing jumps the shark in one day because it was never big in the first place.
geez, talk about overdoing a saying

I liked the show I've been thinking about it for a long time. They should make a complete series on DVD.
Never jumped. I can't believe Artie mentioned this show on Howard Stern today. I thought I was the only dope who actually watched it. Elliot was hilarious.
Day One...it was like they were trying too hard to be realistic w/the endless references (South Park, Alicia Silverstone, Ally McBeal, etc.), and as the above poster pointed out, it made for a very uneven show that fluctuated between comedy and drama in a most annoying fashion, unlike the (far superior) Freaks and Geeks that same season, which got the mix just right and handled the references of the era far better...as for the show getting "good ratings", it wasn't really doing that well, though not surprising considering 99-00 was a bad season for Fox (anyone remember such other "hits" as Time of Your Life, Harsh Realm, Ryan Caulfield: Year One, and the disaster that was Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire from said season?) And to top it off, they cancelled their 2 best shows to emerge that season: Action (which was truly underrated) and Greed (which pulled the highest ratings in its Friday-at-9 slot than anything previously/since aired there following the X-Files' move to Sun).
Get Real jumped the shark from day one. I mean they had a very solid cast,Jon Tenney, the chick from the Princess Diary movie, and the lady from St. Elsewhere. The problem was the direction of the show and the writing. I mean they could never decide what kind of show it was going to be. One minute it was satire(the South Park references were not funny!), the next minute it was a serious family drama, the next minute a teen show. What made it even worse was when the characters would look directly at the camera and talk. I mean it worked well for Ferris Buehler and Woody Allen but here it comes across as just really smug and pretentious.
I was so shocked when FOX cancelled it. I thought is was getting good ratings and it had great story lines. I cried when I realize I would never get to see my new favorite show again. I wish it was pick up by another network or at least show the reruns on USA.
After the canceling of this show i spent two years deriving a theory, in short the network execs at FOX are total jackasses. My basic governing equation is as follows (pi x FOX^3=dumbMOFOS). Then they killed Family Guy, the funniest show ever. This proved my theory and it was subsequently published in numerous physics journals. Really I'm just pissed cause the mom was a total milf (on Get Real not Family Guy, i don't bang cartoons, not that there's anything wrong with that)
Never jumped. Didn't have a chance to, FOX managed to kill it (it was on against the West Wing, and every OTHER show gets moved around, but no...). Whoever said Anne Hathaway (Meghan) was a horrible actress, I'm assuming you think Katie Holmes deserves an Emmy! If you saw the Princess Diaries, she saved that movie from being a complete waste of time. (Actually, Anne was the only reason I saw it in the first place.). The mom was awesome and the grandma was just getting involved. Then they stopped it, started it again. It never built a fan base. End Temptation Island, bring back Get Real!!!!
The show had an appealing cast and some potential. They just burned it out in one season. Every show had to have this monumental crisis to top the week before.
It never jumped!! I thought it was great! very easy to relate to, and the story lines were good. they should put it back on the air!
the 1st 3 or 4 episodes were funny and everyone could watch then it went on hiatus and came back a month later all girlie and dawsons creek like
The show was great. My wife and I miss it a lot. We used to watch it or tape it every Wednesday. Although at times there were unrealistic feelings and reactions to situations, the show dealt with issues of today's american family. The characters were very likeable especially Megan and her parents. Being an only child I enjoyed watching the way the siblings fought but were always loyal to each other. We agree that by the end of the season, although we wanted another season we felt that it began to go over the top. For example, how cameron had to stand out in the rain to get the school principal to forgive him and let him return to school. We hope that the show will return in the future.
This show has not jumped the shark!!!! I am SOOOO disappointed that they will no longer be airing it (as far as I know) This was one of my TWO fav shows and the other one is gonna be gone in a matter of time. (X-Files) I absolutely adore this show because I find, as a teenager, a lot of the events that happened on the show easy to relate to. And I the episode when Kenny almost died very good... I don't know, maybe i don't know these things as well as adults, or maybe I'm just a sap for that type of television but all I know is that I am VERY disappointed that it will not be on anymore. What am I supposed to do at 10 (my time) on Wednesday night? I always looked forward to getting home to watch it!!!
