Shark Bytes
I caught an episode when a bunch of big bad guys attacked Tia and some guy. Tia single handedly beat them all up while the man cowered in the corner. Then she asks "Are you alright?", while he acts like a little girl. Completely ridiculous and an insult to men. Cheesy, silly show.
When they ran out of plot devices for getting Tia in nothing but a bra and panties. And you can only go undercover in a strip bar so many times while looking for archeological treasure.
Relic Hunter never jumped the shark!! It was a great show and one of my favourites.
Sure, it was cheesy and over-the-top, but that was apart of the appeal. I especially loved the sexual tension between Syd and Nigel, and I think one of the good points of the show was Tia's comic ability - she is so funny! Relic Hunter was perfect for a lazy afternoon, and I really don't see why they took it off the air.
PS - If you enjoyed Relic Hunter, you might like the TV show VIP. It is similiar to Relic Hunter and features another funny female - Pamela Anderson!

The show Relic Hunter never should of been taken of the air. My time is very valuable, just like every ones is and Relic Hunter is one of the only hand full of shows that I allowed myself to watch. It was a very adventurous show to watch. I recently purchased the best of season 1 and 2 on dvd and watched all of them back to back. As I finished the last episode I found my self wanting more. Since it's no longer in production I find my self watching nothing but crap on tv. The only bright spot is that The Dead Zone is coming out for another season. It's still not the same without Relic Hunter. I wish there was a way to see if they would bring it back on the air or is it gone for good, if jump the shark has any information I would like to know. I will for ever be a Relic Hunter fan and I was sorry to see it get canceled.
The show was never meant to be serious. She carried a knife inside her boot while on an excursion in Europe...HA! You can't even do that nowadays in most places in the US. The show provided a form of escapism for its viewers. It would air late Saturday nights in my area, so I would record to watch the next day. By the way: for those of you who don't know, "Relic Hunter: Best Of Seasons 1 & 2" has been out for some time.
in season 1 - episode 19 - lover letter: the letter is translated from French to English, but still has the French fist letter clue in it. I am not sure if the makers of this show know that the French are very jingoistic.
I was always a regular viewer of this show, but lost interest when it went to strictly reruns, BUT, in a recent issue of Maxim magazine Tia Carrere revealed that her pubic area is as smooth and hairless as a baby's bottom. She said that she prefers saying that she smooths the path to the promised land and thats what is is isn't it, the promised land? The show, and Tia, has taken on a whole new life for me.
NEVER JUMPED!! My husband and I watched this show every week. We'd sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the main characters, scenery and dialogue. Recorded it to watch later in case we were interrupted. Sydney is an intelligent, beautiful, athletic, talented woman. Nigel is - well Nigel. A little bumbling, but a loveable bumbler. I'd love to see a TV movie sequel and have Sydney and Nigel hook up. Just seems like it could happen after all those bra shots with Nigel looking shocked. He's younger, shorter, cuter, and clumbsier. What a cute duo. I am an Indiana Jones fan and this show is in the same genre. I wonder if this show has enticed anyone especially females to major in "ancient studies"? P.S. I referred to this show as "Your Lady" to my husband. We are not kids - we're in our 50s but feel like kids.
Tomb Raider - Relic Hunter. Give me a break. If this show or the main character aren't a Lara Croft rip-offs, then nothing is. (She is good looking though)
This show never JTS. It was never meant to be Masterpiece Theatre, and it wasn't. (I speak in the past tense, as the show will not be back for a 4th season). I always hoped that they could do a few episodes that did not follow that unchanging formula of their's (flashback clip at the beginning of the show, trip to some far off land, bad guys chase Sydney and Nigel, relic found and returned to its "rightful owners", epilogue back at Trinity University), but alas, it never happened. Most of the stories were a bit far fetched, and I assume only very loosely based on fact. Nevertheless, I saw almost every episode. I thought the actor portraying Nigel did a fine job, and expect to see him again in other projects. The actress playing Karen was adequate, but drop-dead gorgeous. (I had no problem with the removal of Claudia from the cast). The bottom line, however, is this. The only reason I ever watched this show, and the only reason I made an effort to find it every time it moved on the schedule (which was often), was its star, Tia Carrere. As an actress, I suppose she is about average, and I did grow tired of her constantly beating the daylights out of every adversary - male or female, big or small - in every episode. However, she is, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful woman in show business. My policy is, “If she’s in it, I watch it.” Period. I will miss seeing that hottie on a weekly basis.
Having just started to watch Relic Hunter on repeat late night Fox, I am surprised that it was cancelled. What a fun show! The bumbling of Nigel; the misplaced sexual tension with the Hunter herself; hilarious. Not to mention the self-conscious joking about being an Indiana Jones ripoff. I have to say this, even at its worst moments, is TV at its best: blundering, but more importantly, living only for its particular moment. It's when TV strives towards permanence that it overreaches itself; sad that a show so willing to embrace its own impermanence, with such Exuberance, should have been snuffed out.
They got rid of the gorgeous dumb blonde who's there strictly as eye candy and replaced her with a gorgeous *smart* blonde who's there strictly as eye candy. Nigel's fun, tho. PS: Tia, either loose some weight or wear looser clothes. And pass this message along to MJH
I've enjoyed this show from day 1. It's just so silly that I love it. I know that ancient civilisations had far too much to do what with fighting barbarians and avoiding the plague to want to hide all those treasures in fiendishly protected tombs but Tia is a great looking woman and frequently gets down to her underwear. Nigel is a coward but a funny coward, and gets far too many great looking women for a man who is a coward and hasn't actually had a long term relationship on screen, and wouldn't know what to do if he did ever get one. The history is a little contrived at times, though no one lets that get in the way of the script or the one liners.
Never! Not by a long shot! Nor will it. When you have the incomparable Tia Carrere, you have everything! When you give her an incomparable cast, you get even more! Oh, yeah, one more thing. Please have Tia start wearing the leather jacket that zips up the front and has a buckle closed belt; and the collar looks sort of like a shirt collar. That one really set her figure off and it was a sharp jacket to boot.
One night I couldn't sleep, so I flipped through the channels until I saw a TV show with a man with a British accent and Joanie Laurer (formerly known as Chyna) exploring some type of cave. They managed to reach a room where only certain women were allowed in. After Joanie picked up a sword, the male dashed out of the cave into the arms of Natascha's (Joanie's role) lesbian henchwomen, who proceeded to beat the piss out of him. After Natascha told her "sisters" to kill him, I checked the TV Guide Channel and it was revealed that I was watching "Relic Hunter." I figured that, since Joanie was on the show, I might as well watch it. After the commercial ended, I saw another female arrive. I thought she'd go after the man, but she ended up beating the piss out of the females. Near the end of the episode, Natascha says that men are worthless, after which, Sydney (as I figured out that was the main character) beats the crap out of her. That was the worst acting job I have ever seen Joanie pull off (and I'm not including her numerous wrestling matches). Being a former two-time Intercontinental Champion, I thought she'd get a bigger break than her role on this show: a leader of a feminist faction that wanted to rid the world of men. For anyone who reads this comment, I don't want to be hassled just because I'm a wrestling fan. By the way, some people who look at Joanie Laurer think that she's over six feet tall and 200+ pounds just because of her build. In reality, she only stands 5'10" and weighs 197 pounds.
