This show is, without a doubt, art. The show never jumped.

For those who say it jumped with 'the Chicken episode', I say this; it was a weak episode when compared to the rest of this series. Still a good episode, but not quite up to the level of the rest of the series.

That being said, I think there is confusion between 'Jumping the Shark' and a momentary lapse. Jumping the shark entails that the remainder of the series goes down hill. I'm sure most will agree that the series post-chicken was just as great in every aspect as the series pre-chicken.

My two cents.
Aku telling Fairly Tales. FANTASTIC SHOW.
in my opinion this show was BLOODY AWESOME!! it started when i was in third grade and ended when i was in sixth and i don't think i missed a single episode. even though at the time i was kinda young, i still saw and appreciated the artisticness of the show. and once again i state that it was BLOODY AWESOME!!!!!!
I'm at a loss as to why SJ ended without "ending"
Samurai Jack was an animated work of art. Those who don't agree simply can't appreciate the cinematic style of the series, and have been watching way too much "Rugrats" and "Muppet Babies"!

However, it really should have been planned out as a very short series, maybe even only one season, from beginning to end. I would have loved to have seen Aku finally getting what he deserves!
it never jumped. CN did
ITS &*%#ing awesome
It didn't jump, it got killed prematurely. That show was amazing and didn't deserve to be canceled, at all.
Samurai Jack was one of the most influention and cutting edge cartoons of it's time. To say the show "jumped the shark" would be an insult to it.
For the person who said they don't like their kids watching cartoons with the phrase "shut up" in it, because it influences their kid... One question. Which came first, people saying "shut up" to one another? Or a cartoon where the characters said "shut up"? TV has way less influence over your kids than you think, and perhaps you should ask yourself what family members your kids hear "bad language" from?

As for Jack, I agree the chicken episode wasn't the best one, but obviously it was just a bad episode. Not a turning point in the cartoon where every episode got progressively worse. Be reasonable.

In my opinion, the show hasn't jumped (yet). For those who don't understand the appeal. It's not the animation, it's not the dialogue. It's way more basic. What other show (cartoon or otherwise) on TV contains as much violence in every episode as Samurai Jack? Granted it is robot violence (since human or animal violence wouldn't make it past the censors). But every episode contains all sorts of robots getting decapitated, shredded into 1000 pieces, have "oil" gushing out, etc. IT'S GREAT!
Listen to yourselves. Would you rather watch one episode when Jack turns to a chicken or five seasons of Spongebob?
Yes I agree at point in time the plot suffered, and the strips of the same thing happening were slightly overused, but you are being a little harsh on him. The Movie was awesome!
I don't have cartoon network (canada) and I love the show. I didn't know about it until I was flipping through channels and saw it on. I love the show, I've watched every episode and I enjoyed them all.

Just because something is hyped and you don't like it, doesn't mean anyone that likes it does so because it was hyped.
Never jumped, and never will.

You'd think the simplistic art style would hold back the series when it tries to be serious, but it never does.

The silliest episode was probably the one where he was turned into a chicken. I'll agree that it didn't make sense but it was entertaining enough and doesn't warrant a JTS.
The show was AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This show was jumping the shark all through the final season. (I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "farting dragon" episode yet.)
It's also frustrating how Cartoon Network never aired a series finale worthy of the 1st season.
