No thanks. I'd rather not experience her a second longer than it takes to surf to another channel!Every time she's ever on camera, she always seems annoying and annoyed and somehow believes everyone's supposed to consider that clever and daring. How Madonna could experience her, I'll never understand but even she had her limits before she got sick of Sandra!
From day one, I wanted to like it, and her guests were fabulous and everything was all lined up, but Sandra's personality is just to big to not take centre stage.
When Sandra's antiperspirant failed and you could see her pit stains through her blouse and they had to shoot her from the shoulders up during her interview with Michele Lee. As far as I know, this was the last show they taped...(I wonder why?)
I do and see a lot of 'underground' theater and performance art in NYC. When I first discovered her (while going around stealing material for my own work), she rubbed me the wrong way BUT I respected the fact that she was 'different'. I agree that the format and network perhaps stifled her, but I've seen her in 'full flower' and she becomes increasingly grating. I think she has mistaken "attitude" for "edge", and despite her self-created persona as a "counter-culture" icon, she really wants to be a big, mainstream whitebread, overrated, overpaid superstar. You don't fool me one, bit Sandra!
I LOVE SANDRA BERNHARD. I even think she's hot.....one of those so ugly she's attractive things I guess. But putting a rebel like her into a conventional talk show is like well, putting a square peg into a round hole. She is too edgy for that. One of the attractions of her being a guest on other talk shows is to see just how far she will try to push the envelope.
Perhaps A&E is not the best home for Sandra. I think moving her show to Showtime or HBO would give her the freedom to do what she does best......ENRAGE. (And I say this as a fan.)
My girlfriend taped this, probably thinking Bernhard would be doing stand-up. That's what I was hoping for, too, but deep down I feared the truth. The last show I saw had her going on and on about the Kaballah, at the time the latest hip Hollywood religion. Then we play the tape and see her host a freakin' talk show??? As soon as she walked to the piano and picked up her microphone, click!
Really wanted to like this show. Just don't though. Sandra - you are SO much better than this!!!
This show jumped the second I heard the lack of a studio audience. She's a very weird woman, and her odd delivery and stilted timing may work in her comedy routines, but it definitely didn't work on an audience-less talk-show format. It was just plain dull. Even my wife, who is much more of a fan of hers than I am, got tired of it during the first interview and agreed to turn it off.
I think she is really talented and I want to like this show. But I was expecting...well...not just another talk show and that's exactly what it is. Stick to being a guest, Sandra.
From the first moment Sandra oversang, overtalked, over-reacted to each and every guest that passes in front of her. She cannot resist signing at every possible moment, excuse me screeching, followed by constant affirmation and blatant ass-kissing to each guest. Sandra wants everyone to know how cool, talented and fantastic she is and every guest is, but of course Sandra is just ever so more talented, cool, etc than every guest, and she wants us to know it. A train wreck that is worth watching and laughing at. This time Sandra is the joke.
