I always liked SD. Wasn't this show only on for like 6 episodes because Ms Duncan had a grapefruit size tumor behind her eye? They kinda had to cancel it.
How can a show jump before it even started?

Somewhat saccharine but overall funny show about a small-town girl that moves to the big city to go to college/become an actress. Think "That Girl" with a brain: Sandy tended to become involved in funny situations as the result of someone else's stupidity/vanity/whatever rather than as a result of her own efforts. Hard to believe, but it really was a good show - humorous, not too cutesy or slapstick, reasonably believable situations. Ended after 13 episodes when Sandy Duncan was diagnosed with a brain tumor: for some strange reason CBS decided to change the show completely upon her return a year later. The result was "The Sandy Duncan Show", which despite the presence of Tom Bosley became more madcap, more silly... more "That Girl" without Ted Bessell. I'd kind of like to see an episode of Funny Face again - but I could definitely live without its successor...
ANY SHOW that stars SD is a shark snack. Like someone else, I get this confused with Funny Face (someone with power in my home tuned in, as I would never choose to watch her). She's a PASSABLE dancer and that's it. The most annoying speech habits and mannerisms. Sandy--PLEASE retire!
I have to admit that I cannot, some 30 years later, remember whether it was this show, or the one called "Funny Face" (which isn't listed on this website), that really irritated me. But both of them featured Sandy Duncan's total inability to finish a sentence. She certainly was capable of it (a few years ago she did very well in a couple of appearances on Law & Order). She could sing and dance and do Broadway .. but on TV she wasn't merely a ditz but a ditz with the most annoying speech habits. And, by the way, with one of the shows there was serious deficiency in the continuity department; in the first episode she is trying to buy a car, but in episode three or four it turns out that she hadn't learned to drive and takes a drivers ed course.
The best episode was "Da Doo, Ron Ron." The synopsis: with Juliet Proust out of the picture (under mysterious circumstances), Sandy was able to easily defeat Barbara "Yes Master" Eden in a Jive contest, after which Sandy mamboed into the sunset with Ron "Mister To You Buddy" Montez. By the way, I've heard that a reunion-style TV movie is being planned for "The Sandy Duncan Show." Subtitled "I'll Pan Your Peter," Sandy will face off against a bitter Cathy Rigby.
I can't believe no one has ever mentioned Ms Duncan AKA Peter Pan's tv series. Her show had her name in the title! A laugh track was used, because the show wasn't very funny to begin with. And it lasted about twelve eps. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe that's the reason why no one ever mentioned TSDS! Well, if you remember this show, or Ms Duncan's previous sitcom "Funny Face" what did you think? PS - Funny Face was the better sitcom of the two!
