I love this show.Love it! One problem with the burned boy episode was that anyone burned that badly would not be in such a jovial state, much less awake. He would be in an artificial coma since the pain would be too great. Other than that, a hoot as usual and if I had been Grace I would have shot that bastard in the stairway for "fleeing" rather than stomp on his broken ankle. It was so sad. Great scene: Grace tries to see Earl in the shower. Sadscene: Ham with puppy. I love her to death!
Although this show does have a few kinks to work out (Grace is a mesmerizing character, but the "we blindly support Grace no matter what dumb-ass thing she does" attitude we see from her co workers is kind of annoying), HH is, as always, awesome! Her character is a flawed human being (like most of us) who (like most of us) volleys between a myriad of complex emotions and actions. She has urges and impulses that show her compassion, kindness and playfulness as well as the very unattractive aspects of her personality - her selfishness, her lack of forethought, and her refusal to accept resposibility. True, she makes the same mistakes over and over again - but that's one of the fascinating aspects of the show...what will it take for her to really wake up? (As for her angel, "Earl"...I think Leon Rippy is perfect...I'm used to seeing him as villains, but as Earl, he's what I'd hope God would send me as an angel - kind, loving, concerned, playful - a compassionate guide. (And Bokeem Woodbine is lovely!...and so is HH!)
If you don't like a show, why do you insist that no one else like it? Jump the Shark implies that you liked the show from the start, but it changed, did something stupid or resorted to celebrity stunt casting to boost sagging ratings. Simply stated, the writers have run out of ideas. A show can NOT jump on the first show, stupid! Change the channel and/or get a life. Have sex with a woman, you might enjoy it. Dissipate your bitterness through positve activities. My wife and I love this show, it has become must see TV, for us. Go watch Mr. Ed. Now that's realistic, though, I believe that Ed read from cue cards because he was too stupid to memorize his lines.
Duran you either got confused and wrote a review for the wrong show, or you have used way to many drugs during you life time. The Grace character is not intimidating she is a self-centered whiner that shows no concern for anyone but herself. She will leave work to deal with personal matters and leave her partner to work on his own. In law enforcement that is dangerous and grounds for dismissal. They also let Grace work on cases where she has a connection to persons involved in the case. This is a great way to get the case thrown out of court. It would seem like Oklahoma City police force would try to get this show taken off the air since it makes them look like a bunch of alcoholic, incompetent, redneck, white trash dolts.
Excuse me, but what happened to the Saving part of Saving Grace? The element of the show that made it really interesting is almost non-existent this season..Earl, her Guardian Angel. He has been marginalized in the stories, turning a very unique premise into another standard cop show. Earl's presence in Grace's life made her struggles meaningful and worthy of the viewer's emotional response. Without Earl, she is just another boozy broken broad that has lost her way in life and is comfortable mired in the muck. Whether you see Earl as her conscience or a 'real' Angelic being sent to help her heal, his presence elevates the dialog and the show's message about being human.
Wow! A lot of folks seem to hate her because she has the brass balls to do what they don't. She is flawed and interesting unlike the goody two-shoes characters the "herds" enjoy. This show is neither about a selfish person nor overrated. If she intimidates people or you are too "religious" i.e. hyppocrictical to enjoy this exellent show then go watch "Leave it to Beaver" reruns and pretend the world does not exist. Good luck. You'll need it.
Give Holly the Emmy!!!! God this woman puts every fiber of her tiny being into her performance. She makes Kyra Sedgewick and Glenn Close look like they're asleep. This show did something odd to me I've never experienced. It had me hate it at first and now it's my favorite. Holly is not anorexic nor uses extensions. Too many Americans are just fat, balding and jealous of her despite the fact that she is NO great beauty...thank God!
It's just that I can't believe Holly Hunter is a working class girl with those crazy hair extensions. I mean, they look good, but when does she have the time? Or if they want us to believe it's her real hair, when does she have the time to crimp it?
This show is terrible. It is hard to save Grace when she just keeps doing the same stupid things over and over again. I see no redeeming qualities in the lead character. She is a loser that sleeps around with married men, is a less than stellar employee, is extremely self-centered, and she is a police officer that continually breaks the law. They have done almost no work at all developing the rest of the cast. In the first episode for 2008 they have the support cast play a bigger part, but it is the second year of the show and we know nothing about these people. What we do learn is that very few of these people have anything close to what is know as acting skill. Even that dumpy chick from the ‘Just shoot me’ show is not really interesting. Also she enables and makes excuses for Grace’s bratty child like behavior. Everybody on this show seems to think that Grace is such a great person. I have worked with white trash, self-centered, losers like Grace and I did not like it at all. The writers seem to lack talent just like the actors. The major difference from week to week is with whom Grace gets naked. The basic premise of every episode is pretty much the same every week. You know it will be Grace screwing things up and putting her wants and needs ahead of everything else. We all get to see enough losers like Grace at work every day why do we need to have a television show about them?
This show is amazing! It is surely one of the three best shows on television right now. Love Holly Hunter and the entire cast, the chemistry and the plots. Makes The Closer seem dull and trivial.
Why isn't there a choice to vote for never jumped????

I'll admit it's been slippery, but I wouldn't miss it. The show always seems to "redeem" itself! *Hee, the devil made me do it.*
Holly Hunter is possibly my least favorite actress of all-time. She just rubs me the wrong way. It would be very hard for me to enjoy any show or movie where she has a featured role. She's just YUCK.
I like this show. I was a very good show last year.
No Alex. You aren't the only one.
It's supposed to be a Cop show but yet in the three episodes I watched they really didn't solve many crimes....Grace just screwed everything that moved and it was pretty much Red Shoe Diaries with a Badge and an Angel thrown in for good measure.......
