Shark Bytes
I loved Mike Nelson. He will alway be the sexiest man in or out of the water.
I loved the way Mike would say farewell in that rocking boat. In those days all real men piloted boats made of real wood..No one could make an entrance in the briny deep like Mike. Mike's hair underwater was heavenly.
This show should be a national treasure.

Sea Hunt was a great show and I would buy it immediately if it was ever released on DVD. Is Mike's periodic use of a triple oxygen tank jumping the shark, or did he actually jump over a shark in an episode? Sea Hunt motivated me in many ways.
Lloyd Bridges was most entertaining in this underwater drama of the late 50s / early 60s. He was part sleuth and part adventurer in diving to find whatever he was looking for. It was an exciting show for its day, as 'Mike Nelson' was always called on to do a dive or two on each episode. The story line was believable. Later both his sons were introduced on the show, as teens i recall. Not having seen the show in like 40 years, i can't recall however, that it ever JTS, although perhaps some people older than i may remember otherwise?
The original show starring the great Lloyd Bridges never jumped the shark, in spite of the fact that Mike Nelson frequently met up with the creatures while scuba diving. Both the show and Bridges were class acts to the very last episode. On the other hand, a 1980s retread starring the unfortunate Ron Ely as Nelson jumped with its first airing. Sea Hunt would make a terrific feature film, if it was done right, starring Lloyd's son, Jeff Bridges, before he gets too old.
It never jumped! This was a great show for kids and grownups alike. I watched it with my dad as a kid, and while I'm sure I missed a lot that he caught, there was plenty there for me to enjoy. A lot of the credit has to go to Lamar Boren, underwater cameraman extraordinaire. The Lloyd Bridges voice over was very well done, and helped us younger viewers keep track of the plot. I wish they'd bring this one back in syndication more!
