the show was a bit too pop culture-focused and felt like a kids version of 3rd Rock because of the out of the world bits.

The laugh track is so fake that it pisses me off and the camera setting was bit too bright...possibly because of cheap special effects.
I LOVED this show! :) Mike Damus is HOTTT!!!! :-x
This was one of the funniest shows ever to air during TGIF. Anyone know if there are plans to release the series on DVD?
:-xI like cheesey fries with the lightness of angel wing feathers!
This show really didn't get the credit it deserved. Oh, and the reason that Jerry Van Dyke could see Teen Angel was because he had a near-death experience. Sure, it was occasionally cheesy, and didn't survive the cast change, but it had a lotta great moments. And it's very quotable, which isn't easy for newer sitcoms. (Newer = 1997 on) And yes, Steve's dad does look a lot like Steve.
This show was so cheesy and goofy, I thought it was hilarious! Jerry Van Dyke totally killed this once entertaining show, just as he did with its predecessor on ABC's TGIF line-up, YOU WISH. For all those who point to Ted McGinley as a shark jumping point for every series he is on, I ask you to consider Jerry Van Dyke's similar record (at least McGinley was a positive addition to MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN). Why was Van Dyke the only other person in the mortal world who could see Teen Angel? Why did Maureen McCormack leave her son and sister and give up her house to her ex-husband? The sister in particular always hated the ex-husband for walking out on the family, and now she is suddenly LIVING with him?! Ridiculous!
It was completely unbelievable when Steve's dad took over the mother's house... Until that point, the show had been awesome. It was still good afterwards, but not the same.
one of the Best Shows Ever. Jerry Van Dyke killed the old TGIF. he went on and off You Wish and Teen Angel in less than a season.
Teen Angel-Inside Schwartz. Inside Schwartz-Teen Angel. Two of the most awful pieces of crap EVER seen on television. What single individual is responsible? The proof is in the proverbial baby lotion. Where Ted McGinley is instant death to a show while acting, this bucky is the writing equivalent. Taffeeee?
This show sucked from the beginning. I like TGIF shows that can enjoyed at all ages, and this one only seemed enjoyable for the very very VERY young, and even for them it was probably not that great. The premise (the whole burger) thing was lame. I hated this show.
It was a great show. It was just funny, the perfect addition to the ABC lineup, then the fools killed it. Poor show. I did like it, way better than Sabrina the Teenage Witch and some of the other shows on. It was just funny.
Let's not underestimate the talents of Jerry Van Dyke (who replaced Maureen). If only he had been part of the original lineup. And it was cool that he was able to see the angel (unlike the other mortals). Jerry's always been a great comedic talent. And yes I do have most of the episodes on tape. If your interested email me at LauriePutz@aol.com for details.
TEEN ANGEL & YOU WISH were the best shows ever on TGIF. Creative writing & good casting, these shows were hysterical! Network prb felt i had to "dumb down" to the kids watching (boy meets world) Would LOVE to have video of both these shows. Anybody?
I enjoyed this show on Friday nights, but I was really disappointed when Maureen McCormick, whom I've loved since The Brady Bunch, left the show and was replaced by Jerry VanDyke, who, I guess, needed a new job after the quick cancellation of You Wish. I missed the setup about why Steve's mom would move out and leave him and his sister with her ex-husband and ex-father-in-law. Another actor named Tommy Hinkley joined the show to play Steve's dad. The only thing I remember about him was his amazing resemblance to Corbin Allred, who played Steve.
A kid dies eating a bad burger and gets sent back to Earth as an angel but it's NOT his parents who are grieving since they're in Hawaii (or some other stupid excuse) but the friend whose old burger he ate and now he's supposed to give the friend lame advice? WHY would any network exec BUY this crap? The ONLY good part was that the friend's mom was Maureen McCormick (AKA 'Marcia Brady') who was MORE attractive than the girls her son was trying to impress but she, Ron Glass (as the angel's boss -God's cousin Rod) and Conchata Ferrell (as Aunt Pam) were totally WASTED here!
