Never jumped--it would have been interesting to see where it went with all the characters.
As to the poster who riducules all supernatural shows--what a broad generalization. There are good and bad sci-fi shows and the good ones can use the form to explore theme, characters and ideas in completely different ways than "normal" dramas can. Also, it is not a "vocal minority" of T.V. viewers that like sci-fi, Lost and Heroes have done quite well.
I never thought this show had a chance.
Why? Because I liked it!
It seems that lately everthing I like gets pulled and replaced with another S*@TY reality show.
Perhaps a 'reality show channel' could be started with all of them being forced to run only there. Then all the simple minded fools who like this garbage could set their TV's there and all the intelligent people could block the station.
The Others was a good show that was doomed to failiar.
Her name was Kristen Cloke (Space: Above & Beyond, Millenium) and yes, she was gorgeous. And the characters weren't just threatened in the last episode - they were killed! All by Kristen Cloke's character. Talk about a shocking way to deep-6 a promising series!
Yeah - I didn't remember that it was killed in favor of the XFL - what a brilliant move that was (She Hate Me)! I hope plenty of execs got the axe over that decision, but I doubt it - it seems like the networks reward stupidity.
I was wondering if this show would ever come out on DVD - the pilot episode alone would be worth it. What a fantastic presentation of slasher-free horror that was!
I can't believe the number of favorable comments about this load o'crap. I thought it was one of the stupidest shows I've seen since The X Files. But then again I find that shows about the supernatural appeal to a small but vocal minority of idiots.
This show rocked. I kept waiting for it to start back the next season but it never did. It really is a shame. This show gave me nightmares-kind of like an x-files but scarier and reached a younger generation. Bring it back!
This was probably one of the best shows ever to hit network television. It failed because the powers that be were too bloody stupid to give it a reasonable time slot! Saturday night??? Give me a break. They never even gave this show a chance, and it could have been a real classic. Monday night would have been a better place for it, because Monday night TV just blows.
I'm still pissed that they canceled this show!!!! Why are shows like judging amy or any other show on cbs still running when gems like The Others are s#@t canned???????????? Please tell me!!!...
My Mom was describing this show to me today, and saying that I had got her to watch it, and I had no idea what she was talking about. Then I ran a search and found it. Like everyone else, I agree, what happened to it. It just sort of disappeared. Great show. The axing of this was about as bad as that of "Now and Again."
Never Jumped. The damn network dropped it after the season ending episode. I have to say, that the first episode of the Others is the only made for television program in recent history that really gave me chills. That dead chick in the bathtub kept me awake that night.
The Others was a wonderfully fun show with a very likeable cast and alot of potential. NBC cancelled this for the XFL!!! A real shame.
This was a great show, and only brainless morons completely out of touch with middle class America would cancel it. Damn, now I have to read a book.
Where are all the good scare shows? Why would networks pull this one? They kept us going week after week, then give us the biggest tease of all (aka who shot JR) and THEN pull the plug! Network execs have no clue what public wants. How many Datelines or Survivors can the public watch? This was a fun, well written thrill-show and shouldn't have been axed.
It was the studios who jumped by canning this, and never giving it a fair chance. Some of the episodes were a bit rocky, but as typical for a first season. NBC's just too much of wusses to take a chance on anything other than same old sitcoms. (Cheap shows, cheap writing, and filled with narcissistic characters)
it didn't have a chance to jump. one season ended with the entire cast being threatened by a mysterious spirit, then the entire show disappeared. watsup wit dat? (I think the oh so gorgeous sexy chick who was the partner of Frank Black on another ESP show was the evil temptress, (what's her name?)
