jumped with that stupid 80's remake.. "tom and jerry kids"... since then there's been all these stupid remakes and specials... hey kids... all new "tom and jerry movie for 2004", "Tom and jerry go to mars".. anit even close to the superior old shorts...just crap.

I grew up watching these cartoons, and that was in the days before Cable TV and VCR's and DVD players. so the only times that we could see ANY cartoons was like on Saturday morning, a little in prime time, and maybe during the daytime when we had free days from school. but I liked the Fred Quimby ones the best too. I don't remember much about when Tom and Jerry were friends.

1. when they started censoring the theatrcial shorts up like hell, i understand times have changed, but t & j wasnt really for kids, and they are messing up the legendary work of tex avery, fred quimby, willam hannah, joe barbera, and the other genious writers of these cartoons.

2. some of the remakes have been good, but not as good as the originals. and all the spin offs and stuff just show they are becoming greedy.

I was born in 1987. I used to watch Tom and Jerry on WPHL 17. It used to play old theatrical Tom and Jerry shorts on WPHL 17. Tom was the cat and Jerry was the mouse. Tom chases Jerry. Tom can't reach Jerry. I loved old Tom and Jerry cartoons.

I haven't even seen the 1975 series, but I partially agree with Guest. Actually, I perfer the Chuck Joneses to the Gene Deitchs.

Tom and Jerry is absolutely the greatest cartoon ever.Of course I'm referring only to the episodes produced by Fred Quimby.The man must have been a genius as Tom and Jerry was decades ahead of it's time.Far more than other animations of the era such as Looney Tunes and Popeye.After Quimby stopped producing T & J, the cartoon was never the same again.The Gene Deitch version was rather strange although one could admit despite the poor animation some of the storylines remained a bit interesting. But what Chuck Jones did to Tom and Jerry is unforgivable. The cartoon became a disaster and possibly the worst production and animation of any cartoon ever. All the other versions which followed were all disappointing. Bottom line Fred Quimby is Tom and Jerry.

i check out T&J every day either on cartoon channel or boomerang. if the quimby ones come on i'll watch . the others i go back to watching Sportcenter.

I hated the Chuck Jones ones. Nothing good about them give me those old ones the Hannah Barbera ones the fred quimby produced ones those were the best! Were they funny and that manny two shoes it was great all of it. Those are the only T&J worth watching in my opinion and I rather own those dvds. Mouse in manhattan is still among my all time favorites I still watch to this day. They dont make cartoons like that anymore thats for sure.

For years I thought mice cut little doorways into moulding and they actually lived in little furnished spaces behind walls, slept in matchboxes, wore clothes, carried big wedges of cheese etc. real mice arent nearly as cute.

if you see the old episodes its a lot more funnier now its just nothing

My name is Carl, my parents allowed me to post on my favorite shows. I'm 9. I looove Tom and Jerry. It's so funny when Tom tries to get jerry. There are episodes where Tom finally gets jerry, it is so funny.

The older episodes are great, but when CW11 started making it newer, it sucked, my favorite was Tom.

Does anybody know where you can buy (or have one for sale) a DVD with the original scenes & voices? I've been especially searching for some of the ones that have Mammy Two Shoes singing "Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby".

I've found the one with Tom singing it but I have an older aunt who remembers Mammy singing it but doesn't know the episode name. I'm trying to find it for her (she's going through chemo/radiation) and I thought she'd enjoy seeing it again.
