Never jumped. Amazing show. Great premise, although not original--the Equalizer, but better.

A couple of the most amazing things about this show were:

1) Michael Madsen, who was perfectly cast and made the show much grittier and more exciting than The Equalizer ever was.

2) The opening montages, which told the entire backstory of the crime being avenged very effectively, very economically, and yet very emotionally in only a minute or two, with great music behind the visuals.

Whoever created those montages was a genius of editing and storytelling, I kid you not.
Loved this show. I bought some boootlegged copies of it and am damn glad that I did. I will buy the real DVDs when and if they ever come out.

NO this show never jumped the shark.
It was a great show. I finally got my parents into watching & liking V.U. A short time after that it was unjustly axed by ABC (All Braindead Chumps).
Gosh, I miss this show so much!
This show is the most brilliant TV show ever for me :)
I'm from Lithuania and it was aired here I think 8 or 9 years ago, and as it was ended I totally blamed it on the local TV, thinking they were too stupid to buy the whole marvellous series... and as it turned out later, it was not Lithuanian TV to blame...it was stupid ABC from the U.S.
How could they not see their own huge mistake? I know, that's a rethorical question, but still.
I really wish that this brilliant show would be released on DVD, because it deserves at least that.
I am so glad to see the majority of those commenting on this site about this show say that it never, and never had the opportunity to jump the shark. This was always one of my favorites, and I'd always recommend it to anyone who was looking for good TV shows. I do see where it's available on DVD, but of course, a fully sanctioned, manufactured release from Warner Bros. would be incredibly welcome.
this show was impressive.it never jumped the shark.i miss watching it.i just found the complete dvd set on-line. i will be purchasing it.
If they don't bring this show back, the very least they can do is offer the complete (and only) season on DVD. I'm sure many people would love watching this that maybe didn't have the chance when it originally aired.
Mr. Chapel please come back. Since you left there are more people getting away with terrible crimes.

Some cable network really needs to air this show. New episodes would be great if they could get the old cast back together.
I loved this show.
I loved Mr. Chappel
What a waste that this show was cancelled. I still hold out hope that someone out there will be smart enought to pick up this show with Michael Madsen reprising his role. The show was creative, and very innovative with it story lines. Everyone always wants to see a bad guy have his day and Madsen would dish it to them in a very ironic way. What happened to polls and changing time slots to find out if there is an audience for this program. What a waste and major disappointment. Maybe, someone like Spielberg will get very creative and make a movie with Madsen in the lead role. Any takers?
I loved this show. The opening to each show was amazing; each episode opened with an incredibly compressed, yet effective and affecting montage of a crime which happened, with a musical background. An entire story was told in about a minute's time, hitting all the emotional points as well as the facts of what happened and how. All this before the opening credits! And then the show -- very sharp, dark, moody, innovative, interesting, and never insulted the intelligence of the viewer.
This show never jumped the shark! Michael Madsen was perfect in the role of Mr. Chapel - totally badass! I think a lot of people probably didn't appreciate it's humor - it could be dark, twisted. And ABC - this network has got to be the DUMBEST - when it comes to canceling shows that are actually creative, innovative, intelligent or thought provoking. I'll take Mr. Chapel over Ross and Marcel the monkey any day of the week. I wish this show was out on DVD.
A deeply dark and disturbing show, sort of a toughened up "The Equalizer". Some cable channel should contact Madsen and see if he will reprise his role. He was absolutely perfect in it. Or perhaps Tarantino could direct a movie version?
This show couldn't jump. ABC never gave it a chance to. Michael Madsen was great and the stories were good. Why does the same network that kept crap like Love Boat and Fantasy Island on the air way too long, always pull the plug on a new idea before it ever completely develops. Mr. Chapel RULES!
