"Millionaire" jumped the shark when I drove to NY, made it through the auditions, and then received a postcard that I still wasn't in the Contestant Pool.
The guest hosts. Seriously, Meredith, if you can't handle hosting the show all of the time, please quit and let someone else who is more committed to do it. Folks like Bob Barker, Gene Rayburn, Alex Trebeck et al hosted the same show for much longer than Vierra, and even had multiple projects going on. They never had to leave for "vacation." You're reading questions and asking for a Final Answer Meredith. How taxing can it be?
The reason why there is all of those guest hosts, is because Merideth is busy doing other things apparently.
They say that she is taking time off, but who knows.

Why all the guest hosts on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Perhaps Tom Bergeron isn't supposed to start hosting this show until next fall, since he is busy with Dancing With The Stars...
WWTBAM especially JTSed on the nights when they only had 9 contestants wait to get on. Why couldn't they have tried to get a 10th one? They should've waited to get a 10th one, then go on with the tapin'. Peace.
Are you refering to millionaire or her other show? I know on millionaire Dave Price from the today show filled in for her while she was taking time off this week. If you are refering to that, she was just taking time off. She will be back. I think her contract with millionaire will expire this year, and she will leave the show.
Who is the novice GS host who replaced Meredith Vieira the week of March 3? Where did he come from? I only watched him for 15 seconds, then tuned out forever! Goodbye, Meredith--it was fun watching you in the hot seat. Maybe when your Today Show contract ends in 2010, there will be a FOX Daytime talk show with your name in the title. It will be a fitting conclusion as well as a grand circuit tour of the four television networks, starting with CBS in the 1980s; ABC in the 1990's; NBC in the 2000's; and FOX for the new decade.
When John Carpenter used his phone a friend to call his dad, it was hilarious!!! But then after while, it was just funny. But looking back on it now, I wish hadn't have done that. If he wounldn't have done that, he would have been the first and only person to win without a lifeline!!! And that, I think would have been even better than calling his dad. Because they will never in long time, have that happen again!!! They don't even have millionaires anymore!!! We haven't had a millionaire since 2003!!!Out of all the 1000 shows that syndicated millionaire has done, only 2 people won!!! And that in the first or second season!!! when you stop and think about it, that is pretty amazing!!!
Putting the show on for the majority of the week hindered its performance in the ratings after about a year or so, but the onslaught of celebrity editions killed the primetime edition. Watching normal people winning big-bucks was what made the show exciting to begin with.
Thankfully the show hasn't had a celebrity edition since 2002. The show is better, albeit more difficult in the upper stages.

Millionaire hosts:
US version: Regis Philbin. 1999-2002
British version: Chris Tarrant
Australian version: Eddie Mcguire
(apparenlty he left the show in 2007)
Different version around the world:
United States
Britain/England
Australia
Italy
Ukraine
Russia
Czech republic
Canada (taped on our set in NYC)
Japan
China
Arabia/mideastern
France
Iceland
Portugal
I'm assuming, but don't know if they have it in Africa, Ireland, and pretty much the whole world.

This 1 falls under the category of 'hair care.' The men with the very long hair always wore it in a ponytail. Were they asked to do that by the producers? It's perfectly acceptable for men to show their long hair. The women did it all the time. Anyway, that was yet another instance where it JTSed. Peace.
This show bit the dust, as many others have, when they started doing "Celebrity Millionaire" in an attempt to get more viewers. The worst had to be the "Rock Star Edition," following by many other themed episodes that were a waste of time. With that being said, Millionaire definately had potential to come back, but only once a week is enough for only a portion of the year.
I find it so hilarious that Norm Mcdonald was the last celebrity to be in the hot seat. And after everyone made fun of him, and made it seem like he could never win! And he would have won, if Regis hadn't talked him out of it! Regis said "Wouldn't it be funny if Norm Mcdonald won the million dolars?!" He could have rubbed that million in their ignorant faces!! I can see him saying "And you thought I couldn't win!" He really did show them though! I don't think a single person won on any of the special editions.
