You people are insane. I came here expecting this show to get the ridicule it rightly deserves and, like the only sane man an episode of the Twilight Zone, I find everyone singing its praises. What's wrong with you all? This show was bad before we even knew what bad TV was. The cliche lines and poorly pasted together plots made it seem like something put together by a WB station computer, not by a writing staff that actually had any pride in what it put out. It was basically an attempt to cash off of the popularity of Dawson's Creek and appeal to horny teenagers with melodramatic, flirtatious crap. I guess TV had always done that before, but not in such an obvious intelligence insulting way that this show did. I'm not even going to dredge up my few memories of this show and the stupid lines I remember from it like, "in this town just when you think you're ahead, you're behind". If you can watch episodes now and not recognize this show as being stupid then I feel sorry for you. It was the beginning of the end of good TV, and the beginning of the end of our once less easily entertained culture. How appropriate the title of this show to compare to the material in it to symbolize how easily entertained the great unwashed of our country really are.

That's all I've got to say.
Really wish they could bring this show back! Watched it 7 years ago and couldn't believe they weren't going to air another season! Now I watched it on Youtube and can't get enough of it...again! lol Jake + Hamilton has to be the cutest/funniest thing! lol
I mean "names," not manes.
Evelyn: The entire series is up on youtube, I think if you just search for "young americans" and some of the actor's manes you can find it.
Is there any way someone can see Young Americans again? I know they are not selling the series, but I would love to watch it again. I have to admit Jake and Hamilton were the best thing in the show and maybe they jumped the shark because it wasn't going to get picked up. But I think that show would have been a great one if they would have stuck with it.:)
how could it jump it was on for the blink of an eye...i really enjoyed it...it was...i dont know...similar to dawson but different in some intangible but important way...i loved it...this may sound incredibly corny, but ive watched lots of tv with my mom over the years...from northern exposure to melrose place, and this one was one of our faves...i wish it had come to fruition, but it will be lost...i didnt think id actually see it posted on here...makes me smile a lil bit...
This show was awesome. My husband & I watched Dawson's Creek & so we had to watch the spin-off. We loved that show. We can't believe they didn't bring it back. The way the last show ended with the teacher taping the scholarship paper to Will's mirror they led us to believe that it would be back, even if it was only as a summer show. The show has been off the air for about 3yrs. now, but occasionally my husband will say to me " Do you think they're ever going to bring that show back?" I liked to hope so, but it doesn't look like it. BTW did ya'll get chills when you found out that Bella & Her "brother" weren't really related.
This show premiered the summer after I graduated from high school, and although it was about a group of kids that were in high school, I fell in love with this show! I watched it every week, and I have the theme song stuck in my head right now! I thought they were going to bring it on when the fall 2000 season started, and I was so disappointed when they didn't. I would gladly give up Dawson's Creek on Wednesday nights for this show!
Since this show only lasted 1 summer season there wasn't enough time to jump the shark. I think that the season was great, there were no really bad episodes except the one when Bella writes a letter to her dad and steals a car, that one was a bit strange but the show came back after that. It was too bad that the WB canceled the show. It had a lot of potential.
Young Americans was a terrific show, all because of the Jake and Hamilton storyline. Jake, the girl pretending to be a guy to get her mother to actually notice her, and Hamilton, the dean's son. Hamilton falls for Jake, thinks he gay, only to find out that his crush is a girl and feels the same way. Aaaw. :)
I love this show. Just about the best on television at the moment. If WB take it off I'm gonna whip their ass.
This show is smart, funny and very entertaining. I mean the love that almost was. The girl in drag as a guy. And not to mention that fact that they run around half naked half the time I mean what's not to like the WB needs to put it back on the air it rules and so reeks of awesomeness
All these years, here I am thinking it was a song when in reality it's another winning WB production waiting to hatch.
This show is pretty pathetic. The whole "Star Wars"/long-lost sibling plot gets tiring. But the part about the cross-dresser is really funny. She (he?) makes the whole show worth watching. But I think everything in this show is happening too fast. The producers should've waited until later in the series to hook the characters up.
