This show is to interior design as "Mork and Mindy" is to the folks who work for NASA.

In other words, there is absolutely NO resemblance between what goes on in this program and REAL interior design.
I was so happy to see that they were returning the show to its roots and bringing Paige back. The first episode was good, but the show has jumped for good IMHO now that it seems to be more about the homeowners and their problems. Terrible idea; fire whomever came up with it or cancel the show. Paige has also plumped a bit and the hair looks like Goofy's ears. The new carpenters are annoying (especially Thad), trying to channel Ty, but never coming close. Again, we don't care about whether the homeowners daughters don't get along on the cheer squad! This is supposed to inspire people to work on their own houses, not patch up a failed marriage!
I know reaction has a c. Didn't check before I posted.
I'm always amazed that people aren't smart enough to realize that when they say, "Don't touch this!", that's the first thing the designers are going to mess with to get an explosive reation. Some of the jobs are awful, I think on purpose. One living room looked like the inside of a Benihana restaurant. They jumped the shark when a gay couple said no pink, and they made the room into a fushia girly disco palace. Bratty Paige smirked her smirk and said, "Fabulous!" I'm not a violent person, but I'm suprised someone hasn't slapped her by now.
It is the mark of a REALLY GOOD designer when they listen to what the homeowner wants and needs that space to be, then builds and expands on that and GIVES THEM WHAT THEY WANT. That being said, Trading Spaces only really good designer at this time....is Frank.
Liked the show with Alex McCloud, HATED the show with Paige Davis, liked it again with no host and room up for grabs and bonus room, and now hate it more then ever with Paige back and turning the show into a soap opera. It's supposed to be a design show, not the Paige Davis, psuedo-psych show!
I TRULY wish they'd bring back my favorite part...the 2 week later checkback comments! It's a little Dr. Phil now and back to being very controlled by the designers anyway, so all that "do you trust your neighbor's taste or style" crap does not make sense. I still would watch, however, if they brought back the 2 week comment part.
Jumped the first time I ever saw it. Am I the only one who wouldn't have known which picture of the room was "before" and which one was "after" if they hadn't been labeled at the bottom of the TV screen? The majority of the so-called makeovers looked cheap, tacky and thrown together, and I especially hated when they would do something like paint one wall blood red and then paint ugly border stripes aound the tops of the other walls.
So now the suits at TLC want to bring Paige back after the show has been killed by the lack of a host, the defection of the familiar designers and the addition of designers that are unknown and (in one case) whose boobs are always hanging out?

Good luck on that. I hope your loyal viewers will come back...
The one episode that ruined it for me was when Hilde did an entire kitchen with wine labels. Now, I would appreciate it, but the homeowners DO NOT DRINK - EVER!!!! After that, I stopped watching.
So MPDP is back. Can a show jump a shark and then jump it again?
The special episode in Las Vegas when Paige dressed as a showgirl is when TS jumped. I haven't watched since.

The first season was the best.
Hilde putting hay on the walls made me wonder about her sanity. She cannot be a real decorator... anyone who would pay her after seeing her work on that show would have to be living in a drug rehab.
My mom used to watch this. I used to watch it too, when Alex was the host.

After she left, I realized it was a show about redecorating houses and lost interest.
Hilde,Hilde,Hilde. I just caught the Philadelphia ep today, which was probably already brought up; The upside down living/dining room. What a horrible atrocity to put upon these young homeowners. I never would have thought in my entire life I would see a sofa dangling from a ceiling. While the poor couple was left to sit on pillows on the floor! But the most priceless part was when the suspended glassware came crashing down upon them all. OMG
